Nextorage unveils pocket-sized SSD with built-in display, blazing speeds, and up to 8TB capacity

Nextorage has introduced the NX-PFS1PRO in Japan, a portable SSD designed for power users who want more than just fast storage. Available in capacities up to a massive 8 TB, this drive connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C and is rated for 20 Gbps transfers. While that’s shy of USB4 speeds, it brings something most external drives don’t: a built-in display that keeps you informed in real time.

The integrated screen shows current transfer speeds, operating temperature, and overall drive health at a glance. Health status is presented clearly as Good, Warning, or Bad, making it easier to back up or replace the drive before data becomes unreadable. It’s a practical safeguard for creators, IT pros, and anyone running mission-critical workflows.

Power delivery is another standout. Hook up an external power adapter to the PD port and the NX-PFS1PRO can pass through up to 100 W to your connected device. That means you can move large files and keep your laptop powered from the same setup, simplifying your desk or on-the-go kit.

Security features go well beyond a password. The drive includes a logging system and can be configured to wipe data if unauthorized access is detected. For authentication, it supports multiple unlock options, including connecting only on approved Wi-Fi networks or using contactless IC cards—ideal for users who need enterprise-level control without a complicated setup.

Durability and portability are part of the package. An IP54 rating helps protect against dust and splashes, and the compact body measures just 17 mm thick while keeping weight down for easy travel.
