A new Lenovo laptop, going by the model name Lenovo 83ED, has surfaced on Geekbench equipped with the advanced Snapdragon X Elite CPU from Qualcomm. This laptop has garnered attention for including a processor that was initially unveiled in October 2023 and is expected to be featured in numerous OEM laptops come 2024.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite CPU recorded a score of 1,628 in the single-core test and an impressive 11,392 in the multi-core test on Geekbench 6.2. These numbers, however, fall short when compared to Qualcomm’s own benchmarks for the Snapdragon X Elite. Earlier tests had demonstrated the chip achieving higher scores of 2,777 in single-core and 14,056 in multi-core at 23 watts, jumping to 2,966 and 15,239 respectively at 80 watts. It’s worth noting that the exact wattage at which the Geekbench tests were conducted is not specified.
The Geekbench listing of this Lenovo laptop also reveals an 8+4 core configuration for the Snapdragon X Elite chip. It’s important to consider that the benchmarks likely reflect a pre-production unit, indicating that the device may see improvements and optimizations before its public release. Furthermore, while this could spell concern for Qualcomm’s Nuvia CPU cores, especially with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 on the horizon, the company is expected to address any issues prior to a full-scale launch.
Not only does the laptop sport the Snapdragon X Elite processor, but it also comes with an integrated, yet unidentified Adreno GPU. The GPU test on Geekbench showed a modest score of 10 points, presumably for the same reasons affecting the CPU test.
As for other specifications, the Geekbench entry uncovered that the Lenovo 83ED laptop is packed with 32 GB of RAM and runs on an Insider Preview of Windows 11 Pro. This hints at a robust system with substantial computing power and support for the latest operating system features from Microsoft.
Consumers interested in similar technology can currently look into the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s 5G, which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and available on Amazon. As more details emerge about the new Lenovo laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite CPU, tech enthusiasts and professionals alike will be keen to see how this device performs in real-world scenarios and how it stacks up against competitors in the computing field.
