The much-anticipated Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset is on the horizon, and recent leaks have shed light on the configuration specs of this promising SoC. According to the leaked details, this chipset is expected to power an upcoming model in the Poco F6 series by Xiaomi.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 made a significant impact last year as a high-tier chipset, offering performance levels close to that of the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Building upon this foundation, its successor, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, is expected to further elevate mobile processing capabilities with its new core configurations.
A reputable source has released information stating that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 will feature a robust Cortex-X4 prime core clocked at 2.9 GHz. By comparison, the prime core in the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset runs at a higher frequency of 3.3 GHz. Accompanying the Cortex-X4 core are four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, and three energy-efficient Cortex-A520 cores at 1.9 GHz. Regarding GPU capabilities, the chipset is rumored to feature the Adreno 732.
Performance projections suggest that the CPU capabilities of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 could rival those of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the GPU is anticipated to provide marginally better performance than that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s Adreno 730.
In addition to Xiaomi’s anticipated use in the Poco F6 series, other smartphone OEMs such as OnePlus, OPPO, and Honor are speculated to integrate the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 into their future devices. This suggests a wide-reaching impact for Qualcomm’s upcoming silicon, influencing a diverse range of next-gen smartphones.
As the mobile tech community anticipates the official announcement and rollout, excitement surrounds the potential uplift in performance this new chipset could bring to the sub-premium smartphone market.
