In a move that’s set to delight PC enthusiasts, MSI has revamped its warranty policy in China to offer unprecedented protection for those using its power supply units (PSUs). This isn’t just about replacing a faulty PSU anymore; MSI is taking things to the next level by offering coverage for any other components that might be damaged as a result of a PSU malfunction.
Typically, if your PSU fails, you would only expect a replacement of that specific part—if it’s still under warranty. However, MSI has introduced a game-changing policy that not only covers the PSU but also extends to any affected hardware. This means that if your MSI Gold, Platinum, or Titanium PSU causes damage to parts like your motherboard or graphics card, you’re in luck.
MSI has laid out five different plans to ensure fair compensation:
1. Direct replacement of the MSI component.
2. Replacement of affected PC hardware if available.
3. Full compensation during the first year of warranty.
4. 90% compensation for purchases made between the second and third year.
5. 75% compensation from the fourth year until the warranty ends.
To verify the cause of damage, MSI will collaborate with a third-party repair service. If the investigation confirms that the PSU is at fault, one of these compensatory measures will be enacted. This generous warranty policy offers peace of mind unparalleled by most pre-built gaming systems.
While this initiative currently rolls out exclusively in China, it showcases MSI’s confidence in its premium power supplies and its commitment to customer trust. With most 80 Plus Gold units and above offering a decade-long warranty, MSI is effectively providing a decade of protection for the rest of your PC components as well.
Although this policy is limited geographically, it’s a promising step in consumer protection and might set a new standard for warranty policies worldwide.
