Motorola Razr Flex 27 Leak Teases a Cheaper Rival to Apple’s iPhone Duo

Motorola Razr Flex 27 leak suggests a cheaper foldable rival with strong performance

Motorola may be preparing to expand its foldable phone lineup with a new model called the Razr Flex 27, and the latest leak suggests it could be one of the more interesting foldables to watch this year. Instead of targeting only the ultra-premium end of the market, Motorola appears to be building a wide-format foldable that delivers flagship-level speed while keeping the price lower than many competing devices.

The Razr Flex 27 is expected to sit alongside Motorola’s larger Razr Fold, giving buyers a more compact alternative to devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Apple iPhone Duo. While foldable phones are often associated with extremely high prices, the new Motorola model may take a slightly more practical route by balancing performance, display quality, camera hardware, and battery life.

A recent benchmark listing points to the Motorola Razr Flex 27 using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. That is still a powerful chipset, but it is not the most expensive option in Qualcomm’s latest lineup. The phone is also listed with 12 GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for multitasking, gaming, productivity apps, and split-screen use on a foldable display.

This hardware choice strongly suggests that Motorola may be aiming for a lower launch price than many premium foldable rivals. Rather than packing in every possible high-end feature, the Razr Flex 27 could focus on the features most users actually notice every day: a fast processor, smooth display, solid cameras, and long battery life.

Camera details from earlier leaks also support that idea. The Motorola Razr Flex 27 is rumored to feature two 32-megapixel selfie cameras, a 50-megapixel main rear camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. However, it is not expected to include a telephoto camera. That may disappoint users who want advanced zoom photography, but it could help Motorola keep the device more affordable.

The display setup may be one of the phone’s biggest selling points. The outer screen is reportedly a 4.97-inch panel with a resolution of 1,736 x 1,140 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. That could make the cover display more useful for quick replies, checking notifications, navigation, widgets, and simple tasks without opening the phone.

Inside, the Razr Flex 27 is rumored to feature a 6.92-inch main foldable display with a resolution of 2,364 x 1,728 pixels. Even more impressive, the main screen may support a 165 Hz refresh rate, which would make scrolling, animations, gaming, and everyday navigation feel exceptionally smooth. If accurate, this would give Motorola’s foldable a major advantage in display fluidity.

The device is also expected to measure around 5.8 millimeters thick when unfolded. That would make it slightly thicker than the rumored iPhone Duo, but Motorola may offset that with a lighter body. The Razr Flex 27 is said to weigh 215 grams, which would be relatively light for a wide foldable phone, especially considering its rumored 5,000 mAh battery.

Battery capacity could be another important advantage. Foldable phones often struggle to combine slim designs with strong battery life, but a 5,000 mAh cell would put the Razr Flex 27 in a favorable position for all-day use. For users who rely on their phone for streaming, gaming, work, and travel, that extra capacity could make a noticeable difference.

The chassis is also rumored to carry an IP49 rating, meaning the phone should offer a level of protection against dust and water exposure. Foldables are more complex than traditional smartphones because of their hinges and flexible screens, so any added durability certification is likely to be welcomed by potential buyers.

Motorola is expected to introduce the Razr Flex 27 in December. If the leaks are accurate, the company could have a compelling foldable phone on its hands: one that offers a large inner display, a practical outer screen, strong Snapdragon performance, capable cameras, and a big battery without reaching the highest price tier.

For buyers interested in a foldable smartphone but unwilling to pay top-tier flagship prices, the Motorola Razr Flex 27 may become one of the most attractive options in the market. Its final success will depend on pricing, software optimization, hinge durability, and camera performance, but early details suggest Motorola is preparing a serious challenger in the next wave of foldable phones.
