Motorola Edge 70 Ultra Rumored to Debut Packing Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Power

Motorola may be gearing up to deliver a true flagship-class sequel to its sleek Edge 70. A fresh leak points to a premium Motorola Edge 70 Ultra in the works, potentially skipping the Edge 60 Ultra altogether as part of the brand’s pattern of releasing Ultra models every two years.

According to tipster @ZionsAnvin on X, the Edge 70 Ultra could debut with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a next-gen chipset rumored to edge out last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite in performance. If accurate, this would put the phone firmly in high-end territory and make it one of the most powerful Motorola devices at launch. The chipset is also expected to appear in other performance-focused phones like the OnePlus Ace 6 Pro Max.

Beyond raw power, the leak suggests Motorola will equip the Edge 70 Ultra with a 1.5K OLED display, striking a balance between sharp visuals and efficiency. A periscope telephoto camera is also tipped, hinting at serious zoom capabilities without the bulk. The design is said to remain slim and lightweight, echoing the refined profile of the standard Edge 70.

Key rumored features
– Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset
– 1.5K OLED display
– Periscope telephoto camera
– Slim, lightweight design

There’s no firm word on a release date yet, but the timing aligns with Motorola’s recent cadence for launching Ultra models.

For context, the previous Motorola Edge 50 Ultra offered a 6.7-inch P-OLED display at 1220 x 2712 with a 144Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup featuring a 50MP main sensor, 64MP periscope telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide, and ran on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It packed a 4,500mAh battery with 125W wired and 50W wireless charging. If the new Ultra follows that template while adding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a 1.5K OLED panel, it could shape up to be one of Motorola’s most compelling flagships to date.

As always with early leaks, details can change. Still, the combination of a cutting-edge chipset, high-resolution OLED, long-range zoom, and a sleek build gives plenty of reasons to keep the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra on your radar.
