Minisforum is preparing a powerful new mini PC aimed at users who need serious AI performance in a compact desktop form factor. The upcoming Minisforum MS-S1 MAX-P495 is built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor and is designed for demanding workloads such as local AI inference, edge AI computing, content creation, and high-performance productivity.

One of the biggest highlights of the MS-S1 MAX-P495 is its AI capability. According to the available details, the system can deliver up to 131 TOPS of AI performance, giving it enough compute power to run large AI models locally, including massive 300B LLM workloads. This makes the mini PC especially interesting for developers, researchers, AI enthusiasts, and businesses that want local processing without relying heavily on cloud-based AI services.

At the heart of the system is the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, a high-end processor featuring 16 cores and 32 threads based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. It also includes Radeon 8060S integrated graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units, making it a highly capable chip for both CPU-heavy and GPU-accelerated workloads.

Compared with the previous Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395, the new Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 keeps the same core and thread configuration, as well as the same integrated graphics setup. The main upgrade comes from the improved NPU performance, increasing AI compute from 126 TOPS to 131 TOPS. While the jump may look modest on paper, it reinforces the system’s focus on advanced AI acceleration in a compact workstation-style design.

Memory is another major strength of the Minisforum MS-S1 MAX-P495. The mini PC comes with up to 192GB of LPDDR5X memory running at 8533 MT/s. This is also a notable improvement over Minisforum’s previous flagship mini PC, which offered up to 128GB of memory. With 192GB available, the MS-S1 MAX-P495 is positioned more like a compact AI workstation than a typical mini PC.

Storage support is also strong. The system includes dual M.2 slots configured as PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 4.0 x1, with support for up to 16TB of total storage capacity. RAID 0 and RAID 1 support is included, giving users flexibility between speed-focused and redundancy-focused storage setups.

Another standout feature is the inclusion of a dedicated PCIe x16 slot for expansion cards. While the slot operates at PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds, it still opens the door for useful upgrades such as high-speed SSD expansion cards or other compatible add-in cards. Connectivity is equally robust. The Minisforum MS-S1 MAX-P495 features dual USB4 ports with up to 40Gbps bandwidth and support for DisplayPort 2.0 Alt Mode. It also includes USB 3.2 Gen 2 support for high-speed peripherals, along with multiple USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports on the rear I/O panel.

Networking is another premium feature, with dual 10G LAN ports included. This makes the system suitable for professional environments where fast wired networking is essential, such as local AI servers, media production workflows, data-heavy office setups, and edge computing deployments.

Minisforum has not yet confirmed the official retail launch date for the MS-S1 MAX-P495. However, the system is expected to arrive soon, and early pricing hints suggest it could cost around $7,000 or more. That would place it firmly in the premium workstation category rather than the mainstream mini PC market.
