Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe brings colorful customization, removable keycaps, and multiple chip options
Lenovo is giving its upcoming IdeaPad Vibe a much more personal feel, turning the keyboard into one of the laptop’s standout features. Beyond the slim 1.35 mm key travel, the company is leaning heavily into color and customization, offering the notebook in seven different color options along with matching keyboard key sets.
The most eye-catching detail is that the IdeaPad Vibe will support removable keycaps. This means users will be able to change the look of their laptop by swapping out keys for different colors, creating a more personalized design without needing to buy an entirely new device.
During a product demonstration, Lenovo showed how the keycaps can be removed using a special tool. That tool will be included with the optional colorful keyboard key sets. Trying to remove the keys without it appears to be difficult, so the accessory will likely be necessary for anyone who wants to customize the keyboard safely.
Lenovo also plans to let buyers customize the keyboard colors when ordering the IdeaPad Vibe. However, there is one drawback: individual keycaps will not be sold separately. Anyone wanting a specific color will need to purchase a complete keycap set instead of replacing only a few keys.
The IdeaPad Vibe will launch with multiple processor options. Lenovo is preparing versions powered by AMD Ryzen AI chips and Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors, giving buyers a choice between traditional laptop performance and Arm-based efficiency.
An Intel version is also on the way. Lenovo confirmed that a model using Intel’s budget-focused Wildcat Lake processors is planned for the future. This could make sense for an affordable IdeaPad lineup, especially for users looking for a lower-cost Windows laptop for school, office work, browsing, and everyday productivity.
Upgradeability will be another major selling point for the Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe, although it will depend on the processor version. The AMD model is expected to offer two SO-DIMM memory slots and two M.2 2242 SSD slots, making it more flexible for users who want to upgrade RAM or storage later.
The Qualcomm version, however, will come with soldered RAM, meaning memory upgrades will not be possible after purchase. The upcoming Intel Wildcat Lake model may also have a limitation, as the platform only supports single-channel RAM. Because of that, Lenovo may equip the Intel model with just one SO-DIMM slot.
With its colorful design, swappable keycaps, and different processor choices, the Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe looks like a fresh take on the affordable laptop category. It appears aimed at students, casual users, and anyone who wants a portable PC that feels a little more personal than the typical silver or gray notebook.
