Minisforum Unveils MS-S1 Max: AMD Strix Halo Powerhouse with 80Gbps USB4 and dGPU Expansion

Minisforum used IFA 2025 to unveil the MS-S1 Max, a compact powerhouse built around AMD’s Strix Halo platform. At its heart is the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU with Radeon 8060S integrated graphics, bringing a blend of high-performance CPU cores, capable onboard GPU, and next-gen AI acceleration to a small desktop you can slide into a rack or place on a desk.

One of the headline features is connectivity. The MS-S1 Max includes two USB4 v2 ports rated at 80 Gbps, doubling the bandwidth of first-gen USB4 and matching the speed class associated with Thunderbolt 5. Minisforum also equips the system with two additional 40 Gbps USB4 ports for fast external storage, displays, and high-speed peripherals. Network professionals and creators will appreciate the dual 10 GbE LAN for ultra-fast wired networking, while Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 cover premium wireless needs.

Despite its compact footprint, the MS-S1 Max is designed for serious expandability. There’s an internal PCIe x16 slot for a discrete graphics card, provided it’s a small-form-factor model to fit the chassis. Memory support scales up to 128 GB, making this mini PC a strong candidate for content creation, AI workflows, and heavy multitasking. Power delivery comes from a built-in 320 W power supply, and cooling is helped by a rack-optimized enclosure with rear exhaust vents. Extras like the integrated microphone array and a clean, understated design round out the package.

Minisforum has not announced pricing or a release date yet. Given its cutting-edge AMD Strix Halo APU, dual 80 Gbps USB4 v2 ports, and dual 10G networking, expect the MS-S1 Max to compete at the top end of the mini PC market.
