Tern’s fourth-generation Vektron arrives as a compact, commute-ready folding e-bike with smarter tech, stronger mid-drive power, and a low-maintenance belt-drive option. Designed for city riders who split their journeys between bike lanes, train platforms, and car trunks, the new Vektron lineup balances portability with everyday practicality.
What’s new starts at the motor. The higher-end Vektron P10 and P5i step up to a Bosch mid-drive delivering 75 Nm of torque, a notable increase from the previous 65 Nm. That added punch should make hill starts and heavy loads feel easier, while the Bosch Smart System brings connected features and future-ready integration. Riders can also add an optional GPS tracker for extra security and peace of mind.
The Vektron P5i is built for clean, low-fuss ownership. It pairs a five-speed internal hub with a belt drive, helping reduce maintenance and banish chain grease from car interiors and clothing. Across the range, Tern offers setups that lean sportier or more comfort-focused, so riders can match handling and posture to their commute length and style.
Everyday details haven’t been overlooked. The bike appears to come commuter-equipped out of the box, with front and rear mudguards, integrated lighting for visibility, and a sturdy rear rack ready for panniers. When it’s time to fold, the Vektron keeps rolling on its wheels so you can glide between platforms or through station halls. Its rear rack includes supports that let the bike stand upright when folded, making it easier to stow in tight spaces at home, in the office, on trains, or in the boot of a car. Mid-drive folding e-bikes are still relatively uncommon, which makes this combination of portability and performance a standout.
