Matt Walsh Criticizes Anime Enthusiasts, Labeling Them as Overweight

Matt Walsh, a right-wing commentator and host for the Daily Wire, has once again found himself at the center of a storm with his contentious remarks targeting anime enthusiasts and gamers. The uproar began as Walsh revisited his past contentious assertion that anime is satanic. He provocatively reiterated that he believes anime might indeed be satanic or, at the very least, influenced by satanic elements.

Interestingly, Walsh has softened his stance on viewing anime enthusiasts as societal threats, but not without a jab. He suggests that men who watch anime aren’t a danger primarily because, in his view, they are “morbidly obese” and more delicate than left-leaning social justice advocates.

Walsh’s editorial team took this further with a vivid comparison of anime fans to Aunt Marge from Harry Potter—hinting at an image of them being so filled with hot air that they metaphorically float away.

In subsequent discussions on his show, Walsh did not shy away from emphasizing his disdain for anime and those within the pop-culture sphere who indulge in it. He particularly criticized his conservative fanbase for being engrossed in anime and, disturbingly, for their attraction to underage characters depicted in these shows. Walsh stood firm on his belief that anime is unsuitable entertainment for mature men, maintaining his stance that this segment of pop-culture is degenerate.

While some of his followers concur, labeling anime as “woke,” others criticize Walsh for estranging a part of his audience without cause. Adding to his list of grievances, Walsh recently turned his attention to the film Sonic the Hedgehog 3, condemning it as possibly the worst children’s film ever and branding it inappropriate for all audiences, regardless of age.

Matt Walsh’s opinions continue to polarize his audience, as he unapologetically navigates the controversial waters of modern pop culture.
