This transformation involves the removal of the GPU chip and VRAM modules from the original cards, only to be reassembled onto custom PCBs designed for AI tasks.
A recent video highlights this intricate process carried out by a Chinese company. The operation is highly automated, ensuring precision and efficiency as thousands of RTX 5090s are repurposed. Initially, each card undergoes functionality testing. Once confirmed operational, the GPU chip and GDDR7 VRAM are extracted and soldered onto specially crafted PCBs.
