The much-anticipated Radeon RX 9060 XT may not be the powerhouse some expected, but its scores are proving to be a pleasant surprise compared to previous leaks. A Reddit user recently overclocked the GPU to an impressive 3.46 GHz, achieving 17,069 points in the Time Spy benchmark. They also put it to the test in the upcoming game, Black Myth: Wukong.
While the RX 9060 XT might not surpass the Radeon RX 7700 XT, it seems to be in a similar performance range. Despite this, it’s important to remember that the RX 9060 XT offers excellent value at its $349 price point—assuming you can snag one at retail.
The Radeon RX 9060 XT was benchmarked just ahead of its official release. Previously, results were mixed, but this time the GPU was tested on a more reliable platform, 3D Mark Time Spy. The Reddit user managed to acquire an XFX Swift RX 9060 XT 16 GB card early and shared some insights.
Without official drivers, the user utilized beta 25.6.1 drivers for testing. Although final results may differ, the RX 9060 XT scored 16,333 points at default settings. The memory, however, couldn’t be overclocked. By adjusting the core clock and power settings, the user reached a notable 3.46 GHz.
This overclocking effort resulted in a respectable 17,069 points in the Time Spy graphics test. While slightly lower than the RX 7700 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to deliver comparable gaming performance. Its 16 GB of VRAM, compared to the RX 7700 XT’s 12 GB, should be advantageous at 1440p resolution.
In Black Myth: Wukong, the RX 9060 XT achieved over 60 FPS at 1080p on high settings and roughly 35 FPS on Cinematic Presets without ray tracing. Paired with a Ryzen 5 5600, better performance is likely when teamed with higher-tier processors like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or 7800X3D.
This release has the potential to offer gamers a competitive option at an attractive price, promising a strong showing as more benchmarks and driver updates emerge.
