As the Logitech G Cloud approaches its third anniversary, it’s becoming a more appealing choice for gamers, thanks to a significant update and a limited-time discount on Amazon.
Initially overshadowed by popular devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally, the Logitech G Cloud has evolved beyond its initial limitations. Although it doesn’t run games natively, except for Android titles, its primary strength lies in cloud gaming. Initially criticized for its features and price, a recent software overhaul and price reduction have reshaped its value proposition.
The major software update, rolled out in late June, upgraded the device to version 10 and significantly enhanced the user experience. The revamped user interface now feels more modern, resembling the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch, rather than its previous Android-like launcher. This update introduces a dynamic home screen that adjusts its background based on the selected game or app, and allows users to pin favorites for easy access. Additionally, the update includes the Blacknut Cloud Gaming app, offering an alternative to Xbox Game Pass.
There’s also a new exploration area, featuring a list of recommended games curated by Xbox and Logitech. Some users have even noted improved compatibility with XR glasses, such as the Xreal One Pro and Viture Pro XR.
The Logitech G Cloud, featuring a 7-inch 1080p display and up to 12 hours of battery life, initially launched at $349.99 but is now available for $259.34 on Amazon. This price cut makes it more enticing despite being higher than the $199 PlayStation Portal, due to its versatility. Unlike the PlayStation Portal, limited to PlayStation games, the G Cloud supports Xbox Game Pass, Steam Link, GeForce Now, Blacknut, and PS Remote Play. Additionally, it includes Moonlight for PC game streaming and can connect to a TV, offering broader functionality than the PS Portal, which has a shorter battery life of 7 to 9 hours.
With these enhancements and the current discount, the Logitech G Cloud stands out as a compelling option for gamers looking for a versatile cloud gaming device.
