Logitech is expanding its magnetic-switch lineup with the new G512 X TMR series, and while it isn’t the company’s first magnetic switch keyboard, it is the first to use TMR (tunneling magnetoresistance) switches. TMR-based keyboards have been around for a while, so Logitech is arriving a bit later than some competitors, but the G512 X TMR stands out with a hybrid approach designed to please players who want both analog control and the familiar feel of mechanical keys.
Two sizes, same performance: 75-key and 98-key with 8K polling
The G512 X TMR comes in two layouts: a 75-key version and a 98-key version. Aside from the size and key count, they share the same core feature set. Both models are wired keyboards and support an 8,000Hz polling rate, aiming for faster response times that competitive gamers tend to look for.
Hybrid analog + mechanical design with swap-friendly flexibility
One of the biggest talking points is what Logitech calls dual swap analogue/mechanical switch compatibility. In practical terms, the keyboard is built with two types of switch positions:
There are 39 TMR analogue switch beds designed to accept magnetic switches. Logitech includes nine magnetic analogue switches in the box so you can start experimenting right away without buying extras. When you’re not using those nine switches, they can be stored in a dedicated spot at the top rear of the keyboard, which is a handy detail for people who like to tinker.
Outside of those 39 positions, there are 81 slots that accept swappable mechanical switches, and these are populated by default. This setup targets gamers who want analog functionality for certain keys (like movement or racing controls) while keeping a traditional mechanical feel for everything else.
Dedicated controls, including Game Mode and analogue scanning
Logitech adds direct-access controls with a Game Mode button and an Analogue Scan button. Two built-in dials provide additional control options, giving the keyboard a more command-center feel without pushing users to rely solely on software.
Adjustable actuation from 0.1mm to 4mm, plus clear second-actuation feedback
Thanks to the magnetic switches, the keyboard supports adjustable actuation with a range from 0.1mm up to 4mm. That means you can tune keys for ultra-sensitive taps or set them deeper to reduce accidental presses.
Logitech also includes five rings intended to enable Second Actuation Pressure Point (SAPP). These rings help clearly identify the second actuation point, which can be valuable if you’re setting up multi-stage inputs. Using G Hub software, you can customize actuation behavior and assign different actions to different actuation points, which is especially appealing for competitive play and complex game bindings.
Build details: PBT caps, gasket mount, and RGB lighting
For materials and feel, Logitech uses double-shot PBT keycaps with shine-through legends to keep lighting visible while improving durability compared to cheaper cap materials. The gasket mount design is intended to soften keystroke acoustics and provide a more dampened sound profile.
Lighting includes per-key RGB plus a light bar along the bottom front edge, giving the keyboard an extra accent that stands out on a desk setup.
Price, colors, switch options, and the bundle deal
The Logitech G512 X TMR series is available in black or white, with tactile and linear switch options. Pricing is set at $180 for the G512 X TMR 75 and $200 for the G512 X TMR 98. A bundle promotion is also offered: if you buy either keyboard with a G502 X mouse, you receive a G502 Anniversary mousepad at no additional cost.
For gamers who want to experiment with analog input without giving up a mechanical keyboard layout, the G512 X TMR series positions itself as a flexible, performance-focused option—especially for those who enjoy customizing actuation and fine-tuning how specific keys respond in different games.
