Fresh benchmark numbers for Resident Evil Requiem offer a clear look at how Windows 11 and Linux (CachyOS) stack up at 1440p. The results are interesting because they show a near-tie in some scenarios, a small Windows advantage in frame consistency, and a noticeable Linux edge once upscaling and frame generation enter the picture.
At 1440p using native resolution with FXAA and TAA enabled, both operating systems land at the exact same average performance: 52 FPS. Where the difference shows up is in the 1% lows, which are a quick way to judge how smooth a game feels during heavier moments. Windows 11 comes in slightly stronger at 44 FPS, while Linux records 40 FPS. In other words, the average is identical, but Windows holds a small advantage in minimum performance consistency at native 1440p. VRAM usage is also a bit higher on Linux, sitting at around 8.0 GB versus 7.5 GB on Windows.
Turning on AMD FSR 3.1.5 in Quality mode at 1440p gives both platforms a healthy boost. Windows 11 climbs to an average of 68 FPS with 1% lows at 54 FPS. Linux pushes higher on average at 72 FPS, while its 1% lows land at 53 FPS. That means Linux takes a small win in average frame rate, while the lower-end performance is essentially neck-and-neck. VRAM allocation continues to trend slightly higher on Linux here as well.
The biggest jump arrives when Frame Generation is added alongside FSR 3.1.5 Quality at 1440p. Windows 11 reaches 101 FPS on average with 84 FPS 1% lows. Linux extends the lead further with 107 FPS average, while its 1% lows come in at 83 FPS. This is the most telling comparison in the set: Linux delivers higher average FPS, but the “feel” of heavier moments remains extremely close since the 1% lows are nearly the same.
Summed up simply, native 1440p performance is a draw at 52 FPS, but Windows 11 is a touch smoother in the worst-case dips. With FSR 3.1.5 Quality enabled, Linux edges ahead in average FPS. Once Frame Generation is enabled, Linux opens up a more noticeable lead in average performance while frame-time stability remains comparable.
The testing also notes that Linux tends to use slightly more VRAM than Windows across these runs, which is worth keeping in mind if you’re playing on a GPU with limited memory headroom at 1440p with higher settings.
