LG Introduces UltraGear evo Premium Gaming Monitors Featuring 5K2K/5K Panels and AI-Enhanced Upscaling

Big things are brewing for PC gamers ahead of CES 2026. LG Electronics has unveiled a brand-new premium gaming display lineup called UltraGear evo, and it’s coming with more than just eye-catching resolutions and high refresh rates. The company is also introducing proprietary AI-powered enhancements designed to boost image and sound quality without putting extra strain on your PC or console hardware.

UltraGear evo is positioned as LG’s next-step flagship series for enthusiasts, featuring three new high-end monitors built around OLED and Mini LED technologies. Each model targets a slightly different type of gamer, whether you’re chasing cinematic immersion, razor-sharp detail, or ultra-high refresh rates for competitive play.

Leading the lineup is LG’s first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, the 39GX950B. It delivers a sharp 5120 x 2160 resolution and supports refresh rates up to 165Hz for smooth motion and responsive gameplay. Because 5K2K can be demanding in real-world use, LG is leaning on its 5K AI Upscaling feature to enhance perceived detail and visual clarity. The monitor also includes AI Scene Optimization to intelligently refine picture output depending on what’s on screen, plus AI Sound for improved audio output.

This 39-inch OLED model uses LG’s latest Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel technology, which is designed to provide higher brightness and improved color accuracy compared to previous generations. For players who prioritize speed over resolution, LG says the monitor can switch into a WFHD mode and push refresh rates up to 330Hz, giving esports-focused users a competitive-friendly option. It also keeps an immersive design with a 1500R curve and a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio to widen your field of view in games.

Next is what LG calls the world’s first 5K Mini LED gaming monitor, the 27GM950B. Built around a 27-inch 5K panel, it aims to deliver high-resolution clarity while addressing one of Mini LED’s common complaints: blooming. LG claims this model improves blooming control with 2,304 local dimming zones combined with its Zero Optical Distance technology, which is intended to enhance contrast performance while preserving fine details in challenging scenes. Like the OLED model, it includes 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound to enhance both visuals and audio.

Rounding out the announcement is a massive display aimed squarely at gamers who want a big-screen experience without sacrificing performance. LG says it’s launching the world’s largest 52-inch 5K2K gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate. It features an aggressive 1000R curvature for deeper wraparound immersion and comes with VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, targeting punchier highlights and more dynamic contrast in HDR-supported games.

All three UltraGear evo monitors are set to appear at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where LG is expected to share additional details. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but with flagship specs like 5K2K OLED, 5K Mini LED with extensive local dimming, and a 52-inch 240Hz curved display, these are clearly aimed at the high-end gaming monitor market in 2026.
