Lenovo has expanded its ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 lineup in the United States with a new, lower-cost Intel Wildcat Lake version. The 16-inch business laptop is now available with Intel Core Series 3 processors, giving buyers a more affordable option than the existing Intel Panther Lake and AMD Ryzen AI 400 configurations.
The new ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 starts at $1,399 in the US. That entry-level configuration includes an Intel Core 5 320 processor, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. For comparison, the Intel Panther Lake model starts at $1,619 with a Core Ultra 5 325, while the AMD version begins at $1,569 with a Ryzen AI 7 345. Both alternatives come with the same base memory and storage, making the Wildcat Lake model the cheaper way into Lenovo’s latest 16-inch ThinkPad E-series laptop.
The lower price does come with some compromises. The Panther Lake and AMD Ryzen AI models are expected to offer stronger overall CPU and graphics performance, making them better suited for users who need more power for demanding multitasking, creative work, or heavier productivity workloads. The Wildcat Lake version also includes only one SO-DIMM memory slot, while the higher-end variants support dual-channel memory.
Even so, Lenovo is offering several configuration options for buyers who want more performance or capacity. The ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 with Wildcat Lake can be configured with up to an Intel Core 7 350 processor and 16 GB, 24 GB, or 32 GB of RAM. The top configuration also increases storage to 1 TB, although fully upgrading the machine raises the price to $2,259.
The base display is a 16-inch IPS panel with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 400 nits of peak brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and 45% NTSC color coverage. For users who want a smoother and more vibrant screen, Lenovo also offers an optional 120 Hz touchscreen with 100% sRGB color coverage. That upgrade should make the laptop more appealing for everyday productivity, web browsing, document editing, presentations, and media viewing.
Despite being positioned as a more affordable ThinkPad, the E16 Gen 4 still includes several practical business-focused features. It comes with a backlit keyboard, a dedicated number pad, a fingerprint reader, and a 1080p webcam. These additions help make it a stronger choice for office users, students, and remote workers who want a full-size laptop with security and video conferencing features built in.
Connectivity is also solid. The laptop includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and a headphone jack. However, there is no SD card reader. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while the more premium variants offer newer wireless support. Battery capacity is rated at 48 Wh.
The Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 with Intel Wildcat Lake processors is available to order in the US directly from Lenovo. A version with the Core 5 320, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, and a 120 Hz display has also appeared at $1,419, though availability may vary. The Wildcat Lake model is also being sold in select international markets, including Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
With its lower starting price, large 16-inch screen, classic ThinkPad design, and useful business features, the ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 Wildcat Lake edition could be a practical choice for buyers who want a modern Lenovo work laptop without paying extra for the more powerful Panther Lake or AMD Ryzen AI configurations.
