Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is getting a global refresh with newer Intel Core Ultra HX processors and updated Nvidia GeForce RTX laptop GPU options, giving gamers and creators more configurations to choose from in the 16-inch performance laptop category.
One of the most notable upgrades is the arrival of a GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU with 12 GB of VRAM. That extra video memory could make a meaningful difference in certain modern games, especially at higher settings, in demanding open-world titles, or in creative workloads that benefit from more graphics memory. Compared with an 8 GB configuration, the additional 4 GB of VRAM should help reduce memory limitations in select scenarios.
However, the RTX 5070 12 GB is not expected to outperform the higher-tier GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU. The RTX 5070 still comes with fewer CUDA cores and a narrower memory bus than the RTX 5070 Ti, which means the Ti model should remain the stronger option for users who want the best gaming performance available in this Legion Pro 5i lineup.
Lenovo is also updating the processor options with Intel’s newer Arrow Lake HX refresh chips. The Legion Pro 5i will be offered with the Intel Core Ultra 7 251HX and the more powerful Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus. Based on benchmark expectations, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus could deliver roughly 7% higher CPU performance compared with configurations using the Core Ultra 9 275HX.
That performance boost may appeal to users who do more than just gaming. Faster CPU performance can help with video editing, 3D rendering, streaming, multitasking, software development, and other heavy workloads that benefit from stronger multi-core processing.
Lenovo’s product specification listings indicate that both the Core Ultra 7 251HX and Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus will be available alongside GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB and GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB graphics options. The RTX 5070 12 GB version, however, appears to be limited to models equipped with the newer Arrow Lake HX refresh processors.
For buyers comparing configurations, the key takeaway is clear: the new RTX 5070 12 GB model should offer better VRAM headroom than lower-memory options, but the RTX 5070 Ti version remains the more powerful choice for maximum graphics performance. Meanwhile, the new Intel Core Ultra HX chips should make the latest Legion Pro 5i models more attractive for users who need stronger CPU performance in a premium 16-inch gaming laptop.
Lenovo has not yet confirmed pricing or exact release dates for these updated Legion Pro 5i configurations. Still, official product listings suggest that a broader global rollout is planned, meaning more markets should see these refreshed gaming laptops soon.
