Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 launches with Intel Core Ultra chips, LPCAMM2 RAM, dual SSD slots, and a stunning OLED option
Lenovo has begun selling the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 internationally, bringing its latest 16-inch mobile workstation to select Asian markets before a wider global rollout. Designed for professionals who need serious performance in a portable business-class machine, the new ThinkPad P1 combines Intel Core Ultra processors, modern memory technology, high-end display options, and workstation-grade graphics.
The ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 follows the ThinkPad P1 Gen 8, which arrived in 2025 with a strong focus on portability, powerful connectivity, and upgrade-friendly hardware. Lenovo is continuing that direction with the new model, while adding updated processor options and an impressive Tandem OLED display choice aimed at creators, engineers, designers, and power users.
At launch, the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is available in parts of East Asia and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. A broader global release is expected later, as Lenovo previously announced the laptop and has already listed it in its product specifications database.
Current configurations include Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, Core Ultra 7 366H vPro, and Core Ultra 9 386H vPro processor options. Lenovo has not yet made every previously announced CPU or GPU configuration available at this stage. For graphics, the current discrete GPU option is the Nvidia RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell laptop GPU with 8 GB of VRAM. However, Lenovo does not allow this dedicated GPU to be paired with the entry-level processor configuration.
One of the most notable features of the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is its use of LPCAMM2 memory. This newer memory format is designed to offer a more efficient and compact alternative to traditional laptop RAM while still supporting high-capacity configurations. Buyers can currently configure the machine with 32 GB or 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, depending on the selected model.
Storage is also built with professionals in mind. The laptop includes two M.2 2280 SSD slots and supports up to 8 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage. That makes it suitable for demanding workloads such as video editing, 3D rendering, CAD projects, software development, data analysis, and large creative libraries.
Lenovo is offering three display options for the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9. The base panel is a 16-inch IPS display with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and full sRGB coverage. The second option upgrades to a sharper 3,840 x 2,400 IPS panel with 800 nits of brightness, 60 Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.
The standout display is the 3,200 x 2,000 Tandem OLED option. This panel offers up to 1,500 nits peak brightness, a variable refresh rate from 40 Hz to 120 Hz, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. For users who work with HDR content, high-resolution visuals, or color-sensitive projects, this OLED display could be one of the most attractive upgrades available on the new workstation.
Despite being a powerful 16-inch laptop, the ThinkPad P1 line continues to focus on mobility. Every ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 configuration includes a 90 Wh battery and supports 140 W charging through USB Type-C. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi support, keeping the laptop aligned with current wireless standards.
Pricing confirms that the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is positioned as a premium workstation. In Hong Kong, it starts at HKD 38,310. In Malaysia, pricing begins at MYR 21,142, while Singapore pricing starts at SGD 7,182, which is roughly $5,561. Final pricing will likely vary depending on region, processor, memory, storage, GPU, and display selection.
With its combination of Intel Core Ultra processors, LPCAMM2 memory, dual PCIe Gen 5 SSD support, professional Nvidia RTX graphics, and a bright Tandem OLED display option, the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is shaping up to be one of Lenovo’s most capable 16-inch business workstations. It is aimed at users who need desktop-class flexibility in a laptop form factor without giving up premium build quality, modern connectivity, or high-end screen options.
