Lenovo Legion Go 2 price surges past $3,000 for the 2TB Ryzen Z2 Extreme model
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 has become far more expensive than many handheld gaming fans expected. After launching in September last year with a starting price of $1,480, the high-end model featuring AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and 2TB of storage has now crossed a major pricing milestone.
Lenovo’s official listing currently shows the Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip and 2TB storage configuration priced at $3,081.99. That means the premium handheld gaming PC is now more than twice as expensive as its original launch price.
This is not the first time the Legion Go 2 has seen a major price increase. A few months ago, the same 2TB Ryzen Z2 Extreme model was listed at $2,849. With the latest adjustment, Lenovo has added another $232.99 to the price, pushing the device firmly beyond the $3,000 range.
Compared to its original $1,480 launch MSRP, the current price represents a massive increase of $1,601.99. That is a dramatic jump for any gaming handheld, especially in a market where buyers are already comparing performance, battery life, display quality, and value more closely than ever.
Lenovo has not provided an official explanation for the latest price hike. However, the increase may be connected to the ongoing memory shortage affecting the broader technology industry. Rising memory costs have already forced several tech companies to adjust pricing across laptops, desktops, handheld PCs, and other electronic devices.
Even so, the new price places the Legion Go 2 in a difficult position. Handheld gaming PCs are often marketed as portable alternatives to gaming laptops or compact gaming desktops, but a price above $3,000 puts this model in the same territory as powerful high-end gaming laptops and custom desktop PCs.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 remains an impressive device on paper, especially with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and a large 2TB storage option. For gamers who want a portable Windows-based gaming machine with strong hardware, it still offers a premium experience. However, the latest price increase could make it much harder for many buyers to justify.
At over $3,000, the Legion Go 2 is no longer just a premium handheld gaming console. It is now one of the most expensive portable gaming PCs available, and that could limit its appeal to only the most dedicated enthusiasts. For everyone else, the sharp price rise may make waiting for discounts, lower-storage models, or competing handhelds a more practical choice.
