Lenovo Legion Go 2 Leak Hints at a Refresh—Plus More Affordable Models on the Way

Lenovo’s next move in the handheld gaming space could be a big one. A new leak suggests the company is getting ready to launch a SteamOS-powered version of the Lenovo Legion Go 2, giving players another choice beyond the standard Windows handheld experience. The new model is rumored to be unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas next month, signaling that Lenovo is serious about expanding its handheld lineup with a more console-like software approach.

According to the report, this Legion Go 2 SteamOS edition won’t change the fundamentals that make the device appealing. Specs are expected to remain the same as the Windows version, including an 8.8-inch OLED display designed for richer contrast and more vibrant colors, plus a 74 Wh battery that should help support longer gaming sessions away from a charger. If accurate, that means buyers would be choosing primarily between operating systems rather than sacrificing hardware features to get SteamOS.

Where things get especially interesting is performance. The SteamOS model is said to offer “up to” an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, along with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2 TB of storage. The “up to” wording strongly hints at multiple configurations, so it’s likely Lenovo would also sell Ryzen Z2 options with 16 GB and 32 GB of RAM, giving shoppers a range of price and performance levels depending on the games they play and how much storage they need.

Pricing and availability haven’t been revealed yet, but the leak points to a key detail: this SteamOS version should cost less than the current Legion Go 2 pricing. Right now, Lenovo reportedly charges $1,099 for the standard Legion Go 2, while the Ryzen Z2 Extreme version goes for $1,349. If the SteamOS edition undercuts those figures, it could make Lenovo’s handheld far more competitive for players who mainly live in the Steam ecosystem and want a more streamlined, gaming-first interface.

If Lenovo does announce this at CES 2026, the Legion Go 2 SteamOS variant could become one of the most talked-about gaming handhelds of the show, especially for anyone looking for OLED visuals, high-end AMD Ryzen Z2 performance options, and potentially a lower entry price in a premium portable gaming device.
