First LEGO Pokémon Paper Bag Sets Surface Ahead of August 2026 Launch
The LEGO Pokémon lineup is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting toy releases of 2026, and now fans have a closer look at two small entry-level sets expected to launch alongside the main range. The first LEGO Pokémon Paper Bag sets have appeared through retailer listings, revealing affordable mini builds based on classic Pokémon Trainer items.
The two sets are the Premier Ball, set number 30729, and Trainer Supplies, set number 30730. Both are expected to be priced at $4.99 each, making them some of the most accessible LEGO Pokémon products in the upcoming collection.
The Premier Ball set includes 46 pieces and is designed as a compact display model. Meanwhile, the Trainer Supplies set comes with 56 pieces and features a miniature Premier Ball, a Poké Ball, target markers, and Pokémon-themed snacks. These small builds appear to be aimed at collectors, younger builders, and fans who want a low-cost way to join the LEGO Pokémon launch.
The larger LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets are scheduled to arrive on August 1, 2026. This new product line is expected to focus more heavily on interactive play features compared with traditional LEGO sets. However, based on the early retailer details, the Premier Ball and Trainer Supplies Paper Bag sets do not appear to include SMART Play functions or Smart Tags.
Fan reaction has been mostly positive, especially because the sets offer a cheaper way to collect LEGO Pokémon items without buying the larger models. Online discussions have also had fun with the blocky design of the Poké Ball-inspired builds. Some fans have jokingly called them the “Premier Cube” and “Pokébox” because their shape is much more angular than the round versions seen in the Pokémon games and animated series.
That blockier style may be intentional. LEGO often adapts curved objects into more geometric forms, and the squared-off look could help these mini sets match the broader visual style of the Pokémon SMART Play range.
There is also new information about another upcoming LEGO Pokémon item: Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night. This 185-piece promotional set has appeared in European store listings, although it is not currently available to order. In the United States, it is being offered through the Pokémon Center as a free gift for customers who purchase at least $130 worth of Pokémon SMART Play sets.
For now, it is still unclear whether Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night will be sold separately in Europe or offered later as a promotional item in other regions.
With the first LEGO Pokémon sets launching in August 2026, excitement is building quickly. Between affordable Paper Bag mini sets, interactive SMART Play models, and exclusive promotional builds, the collaboration looks set to attract both LEGO collectors and lifelong Pokémon fans.
