Apple is gearing up to showcase a major wave of Apple Intelligence upgrades at WWDC 2026, with iOS 27 expected to be one of the most AI-focused iPhone updates yet. Alongside the anticipated chatbot-style Siri experience, new details are already emerging about what Apple has been quietly building behind the scenes.
According to iOS backend code discoveries spotted by developer Nicols Alvarez, at least four Apple Intelligence and iOS 27 features are in development, and they point to a clear theme: using on-device smarts to make everyday tasks faster, simpler, and more automated.
One of the biggest upgrades appears to be coming to Visual Intelligence. The first improvement is aimed at food and health: users may soon be able to scan a nutrition label and instantly pull up additional ingredient information for that product. If this feature ships as expected, it could become especially useful for people tracking what they eat, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see deeper ties with health and wellness tools over time.
The second Visual Intelligence upgrade focuses on productivity. iOS 27 could let users scan a physical contact card and automatically create a new contact entry, turning a real-world exchange into a saved number in seconds. It’s a small change on paper, but exactly the kind of quality-of-life feature that can make the iPhone feel more helpful day to day.
Safari is also set to get a smarter organizational boost. A new feature in iOS 27 would automatically name tab groups based on what you’re browsing. So if you’ve collected a bunch of pages about desktop builds, laptops, or components, Safari might label that group something like “computer” without you needing to manually sort or title anything. For heavy Safari users, this could make tab clutter far easier to manage.
Another practical addition could land in Apple Wallet. The Wallet app is reportedly being developed to convert physical passes and tickets into digital versions. In practice, that could mean scanning something like a gym membership barcode and generating a virtual card you can store in Apple Wallet for quick access. It’s the kind of feature that helps reduce the need to carry physical cards, while bringing more everyday items into a single, secure place on the iPhone.
These leaked iOS 27 features likely represent only a small slice of what Apple plans to reveal as WWDC 2026 gets closer. Still, the direction is clear: Apple Intelligence isn’t just about flashy demos, but also about AI-powered tools that save time, reduce friction, and make iPhone apps feel more intuitive.
