Xiaomi Smart Storage NAS Leak Reveals Affordable Specs Ahead of July Crowdfunding Launch
Xiaomi is preparing to enter the network-attached storage market with its first NAS device, called Xiaomi Smart Storage. The product is scheduled to open for crowdfunding in China on July 1, 2026, and early details suggest it could become one of the more affordable home storage solutions in its category.
Although Xiaomi has already shown the overall design of the device, the company has not officially confirmed the full hardware specifications. However, a new leak claiming to reveal details from an engineering sample gives us a clearer idea of what the final product may offer.
According to the leaked information, the Xiaomi Smart Storage NAS prototype is powered by the Realtek RTD1619B processor. This is a quad-core chip commonly used in entry-level NAS systems and should be suitable for everyday tasks such as file backup, media storage, document sharing, and basic home cloud features.
The engineering sample is also said to include 2GB of DDR3L RAM and 8GB of built-in internal storage. While those specifications may not sound high-end, they fit the profile of an affordable NAS designed for home users, small households, and users who want a simple private cloud setup without paying for a premium enterprise-grade system.
One of the most important details from the leak is the dual-bay design. The Xiaomi Smart Storage reportedly supports up to 40TB of total storage, which would give users plenty of space for photos, videos, documents, movies, backups, and other personal data. Earlier information also suggested compatibility with both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives, making it more flexible for users who already own hard drives or SSDs.
