Kenji-NX, a popular Nintendo Switch emulator for Android and a fork of Ryujinx, has rolled out a notable new update aimed at smoother gameplay and fewer headaches for users. Now available as v2.1.0 pre-release, this build focuses on performance, stability, and controller improvements—especially for newer high-end Android hardware.
One of the biggest highlights in the v2.1.0 pre-release update is targeted optimization for Snapdragon 8 Elite devices. The emulator now includes memory and stability fixes designed to reduce crashes and improve overall emulation behavior on this chipset. That should translate into better performance and a more consistent experience on devices built around Snapdragon 8 Elite, including handheld Android gaming systems such as the AYN Odin 3 and Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Fit Elite, along with recent flagship phones and tablets using similar-class hardware.
Beyond Snapdragon-focused tuning, the development team says the emulator can deliver up to a 10% performance improvement compared with the previous build. A large portion of the work in this release addresses GPU-related issues, including improved GPU synchronization. These kinds of refinements can help reduce stutter, improve frame pacing, and make demanding titles feel more stable—especially in scenes where graphics processing and timing are more sensitive.
Stability is another clear focus of the update. The developers also worked on issues related to shutdown and startup crashes, which are among the most frustrating problems for emulator users because they can interrupt testing, configuration, and gameplay sessions before they even begin.
Controller support also gets meaningful attention in Kenji-NX v2.1.0. A previously reported issue causing L2 and R2 buttons to be unresponsive on Xbox controllers has been fixed, helping restore proper trigger functionality for players who prefer console-style gamepads. Virtual controls were updated as well, with six new layout options added for the on-screen controller feature. On top of that, a new controller scale slider is included, allowing users to resize the on-screen controls for better comfort and visibility across different screen sizes.
The update includes additional general performance fixes, and there are also changes for the desktop build of the emulator. With these improvements, Kenji-NX continues to strengthen its position among Switch emulation options across platforms, especially for Android users looking for better stability, stronger GPU behavior, and improved controller support.
