Iris Ohyama Luca Tablet Launches With a Huge 15.6-Inch Display and Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand
Iris Ohyama has introduced a new oversized Android tablet in Japan, and it is clearly designed for people who want a screen that feels closer to a portable monitor than a typical handheld tablet. The new Luca tablet features a large 15.6-inch display, Android 16, a magnetic rear attachment system, and support for a dedicated wireless charging stand.
The Luca tablet is aimed at home and workspace use, making it suitable for video streaming, reading, online recipes, casual browsing, video calls, and everyday productivity. With its unusually large display and accessory-friendly design, it could work well in the kitchen, living room, desk setup, or shared family space.
The main attraction is the 15.6-inch LCD panel, which offers a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. That screen size makes the Luca much larger than most Android tablets currently on the market. It is not trying to be a compact travel device; instead, it appears built for users who want a big-screen Android experience without buying a laptop.
For entertainment, the tablet supports Widevine L1, allowing HD playback on compatible streaming platforms. That should make it more appealing for watching movies, shows, and online video content on its large display.
One of the standout features is the magnetic system built into the back of the tablet. This allows the Luca to connect with dedicated accessories without requiring complicated mounts or clips. Iris Ohyama is launching the tablet with two optional accessories designed to make it easier to use in different rooms and positions.
The first accessory is the Luca wireless charging tablet stand. It holds the tablet magnetically and charges it at up to 15W when connected to power. This means users can place the tablet on the stand without plugging a cable directly into the device each time. The stand also supports adjustable viewing angles, making it useful for watching videos, following recipes, joining video calls, or using the tablet as a desk display.
The second accessory is the Luca tablet ring. This magnetic ring attaches to the back of the device and can be used as a grip, a stand, or a hanging solution. Users can hang the tablet from hooks on walls or shelves, which could be especially useful in kitchens, workshops, or compact spaces where a traditional stand may not be ideal.
Inside, the Luca tablet is powered by a Unisoc T620 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It also supports an additional 4GB of virtual memory expansion. Storage is set at 128GB, and users can expand it further using the microSD card slot.
The tablet runs Android 16 out of the box, giving buyers access to modern Android features and app compatibility. While the hardware is not positioned as flagship-level, it should be suitable for common daily tasks such as streaming, web browsing, reading, smart home control, and light productivity.
Battery capacity is 8,000mAh. Standard charging is rated at 10W, while USB-C fast charging can reach up to 18W. When used with the dedicated magnetic charging stand, the tablet supports up to 15W wireless charging.
For ports and connectivity, the Luca includes USB-C 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0. Both the front and rear cameras use 8MP sensors with autofocus, which should be enough for video calls, document scanning, and basic photography.
The tablet measures approximately 366 x 234 x 10.1mm and weighs around 1,083g. Because of its large size and weight, it is likely best used on a stand, table, counter, or mounted surface rather than held for long periods like a smaller tablet.
The Iris Ohyama Luca tablet, model TM15F1W74-V1H, is scheduled to go on sale in Japan on September 24. Reservations began on September 15 through the company’s official online store. The magnetic wireless charging stand and tablet ring are also planned for release on September 24.
The tablet is listed at ¥71,280, which is roughly $460. For now, the Luca tablet and its accessories have only been announced for the Japanese market. There is currently no confirmation of international release plans or pricing outside Japan.
