Siri may be on the verge of its biggest leap in years, with Apple reportedly working on a major upgrade that would let the voice assistant handle several actions from a single command. Instead of speaking to Siri in short, one-off requests, users could soon be able to ask for a sequence of tasks in one natural sentence—more like talking to a real assistant than tapping through menus.
The idea is simple but powerful: Siri would be able to execute multiple commands in order within one request. For example, you could say something like “Schedule a meeting for tomorrow afternoon, check the weather, and then message Alex that we’ll do it after lunch,” and Siri would carry out the chain without you repeating yourself. This kind of multi-step workflow is exactly where many users feel Siri has lagged behind competing voice assistants, especially when it comes to follow-up requests, chained actions, and more flexible natural language.
The report also suggests this isn’t a small patch. It’s described as part of a larger Siri overhaul expected to arrive with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. If accurate, the update would likely come with deeper integration into Apple’s system functions, which could make the assistant more useful across apps and everyday tasks—especially for people who rely on voice control for productivity.
Shortcuts could get a major boost, too. Apple’s Shortcuts app is known for powerful automations, but it can feel intimidating or time-consuming to set up. The new direction reportedly being explored would make creating automations much easier: users could describe what they want in plain language, and an AI-powered generator would build the workflow automatically. That could open the door for far more people to use automations—without needing to manually assemble actions step by step.
For now, nothing has been officially confirmed by Apple. It’s also unclear whether smaller Siri improvements could still show up earlier, potentially in iOS 26. But based on what’s being reported, the bigger Siri reboot—multi-command requests and smarter automation creation—sounds more likely to be saved for iOS 27 and Apple’s next wave of software updates.
