Heybike made a splash at CES 2025 with the introduction of the Alpha, its pioneering Galaxy Perform S eDrive e-bike, designed for an exceptionally smooth and effortless ride. This debut features a new in-house system combined with a Mivice X700 mid-drive motor, boasting a whopping 105 newton-meters of torque. The design aims to enhance the cycling experience by drastically reducing the delay between pedaling and the motor’s assistance, a common issue with traditional hub-mounted motors.
Although the Alpha’s motor is rated at 500 watts, slightly less than its predecessor, the Hero’s 750 watts, Heybike assures that the newer model optimizes its energy use. This efficiency promises to make hilly terrains and sharp turns a breeze. While the company highlights the bike’s comfort, it currently mentions only a frontal suspension system.
Stability and safety are paramount in the Alpha’s design, showcased by its robust 26 x 4-inch tires and the UL2849-certified 680Wh battery paired with hydraulic disc brakes. The e-bike features a Shimano Altus derailleur, offering more advanced gearing than most older models, and a vibrant Smart LCD display situated on the handlebars for easy access to information.
The Alpha comes in two styles: a step-through frame in Pearl White and a step-over version in Galaxy Black, although these options are fixed and non-interchangeable. Both styles are equipped with front and rear fenders, a rear rack, and can support up to 400 pounds (approximately 181 kilograms), yet they lack advanced features like a carbon belt or high-tech security systems.
While Heybike keeps us guessing about the Alpha’s pricing and exact release date, the company teases potential buyers with early-bird benefits. By placing a $50 deposit, enthusiasts can secure a $150 discount upon the bike’s release. As anticipation builds, the Alpha promises to set a new standard in user-friendly fat-tire e-bikes, blending power, efficiency, and style into an attractive package.
