Intel’s Nova Lake-AX: Potentially Featuring 48 Xe3 Cores, Yet Its Debut Remains Uncertain

Intel’s rumored Nova Lake-AX lineup is generating buzz with its impressive integrated graphics capabilities, yet it’s uncertain if it will come to fruition.

The Nova Lake-AX is speculated to be an enthusiast-grade series for mobile platforms, potentially outranking the Nova Lake-H family, which targets mainstream laptops. Previous leaks indicate that Nova Lake S/HX may boast up to 52 cores, including 16-P, 32-E, and 4-LP-E cores.

However, the Nova Lake-AX seems to take a different approach, with a rumored configuration of 8-P and 16-E cores. It might not deliver the same core count as its counterparts, but it shines in integrated graphics. Reports suggest it could feature 384 Execution Units based on the Intel Xe3P architecture, alongside support for LPDDR5X memory speeds of up to 9600/10,667 MT/s. This represents a notable leap from current models.

With 384 EUs, which translates to 48 Xe3 cores when considering each Xe3 core includes 8 Execution Units, Nova Lake-AX shows potential for delivering mid-range GPU performance. This is a significant advancement compared to Intel’s current Core Ultra 200H lineup, which includes up to 8 Xe2 cores, offering respectable graphical performance.

The Nova Lake-AX is poised to compete with AMD’s Strix Halo, a formidable contender with up to 40 Compute Units based on RDNA 3.5 architecture. The Xe3 cores promise enhanced performance and efficiency over their Xe2 predecessors, potentially outperforming models like the Radeon 8060S.
