Intel CPUs Return to Amazon’s Top 10 Best-Selling Processor Chart as AMD Loses a Few Spots
Intel has made a surprising comeback on Amazon’s best-selling CPU chart, with two of its processors entering the top 10 after a long period of AMD dominance. For PC builders and hardware enthusiasts, this is a notable shift, especially considering how strongly AMD has controlled the consumer CPU market over the past year.
Not long ago, AMD processors occupied nearly every top position on Amazon’s CPU sales rankings. Models from the Ryzen 9000, Ryzen 7000, and Ryzen 5000 families were leading the chart, while Intel chips were pushed out of the top 10 entirely. That trend appears to be changing, at least for now.
The latest Amazon US best-selling CPU list shows the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus reaching the 6th position, while the Intel Core i7-14700K has climbed to 8th place. This is the first time in roughly a year and a half that Intel has managed to place multiple processors in the top 10.
AMD is still holding strong at the very top, especially with popular gaming CPUs like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D. However, Intel’s return to the upper rankings shows that aggressive pricing and strong multi-core performance are helping the company regain attention from buyers.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus appears to be one of the biggest movers. With 24 cores and a price sitting just above $250, it has become an attractive option for gamers, streamers, and productivity users looking for high performance without paying flagship-level prices. The chip had previously been hovering around the top 20 best sellers, but recent discounts have helped push it much higher on the list.
Its strong position suggests that buyers are responding well to CPUs that balance gaming performance, creator workloads, and value. For users building a new PC for both entertainment and work, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is becoming a more compelling choice.
The second Intel chip in the top 10 is the Core i7-14700K, a 20-core processor from Intel’s 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh lineup. Its rise to the 8th spot is especially interesting because it is outperforming several well-known AMD options, including the Ryzen 7 5800XT and Ryzen 7 7700X.
One major reason for the Core i7-14700K’s renewed popularity could be platform flexibility. Many PC builders are still interested in DDR4-based systems because they can reuse existing memory kits and reduce the overall cost of upgrading. While DDR5 continues to become more common, DDR4 remains appealing to budget-conscious buyers who want strong performance without replacing every major component.
This trend may also explain why Intel is reportedly continuing to support demand for older platform options. The market clearly still has a large group of users who prefer practical, cost-effective upgrades over moving immediately to newer DDR5-only systems.
At the same time, several DDR5-based processors appear to be losing momentum in the rankings. Some Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 CPUs have moved lower on the list, including higher-end models such as the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X, and Ryzen 9 9900X. These chips remain powerful, but their platform costs may be making them less attractive to mainstream buyers.
Meanwhile, older processors such as the Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K are performing better than expected. Their continued popularity shows that shoppers are not always chasing the newest architecture. Instead, many are looking for the best mix of price, performance, compatibility, and upgrade convenience.
AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series continues to be a major force in the market, especially among users building or upgrading DDR4 systems. These processors remain popular because they offer excellent value, strong gaming performance, and compatibility with mature AM4 motherboards. For many PC builders, Ryzen 5000 still represents one of the easiest and most affordable upgrade paths available.
The current rankings highlight how quickly the CPU market can shift. AMD still leads in several key areas, especially gaming-focused processors with 3D V-Cache, but Intel is clearly regaining ground through price cuts and strong performance in both gaming and productivity workloads.
Whether Intel can maintain these top 10 positions remains to be seen. Amazon’s best-selling CPU chart changes frequently, and upcoming discounts, new launches, and seasonal promotions could quickly reshape the rankings again. Still, Intel’s return to the top 10 is an important sign that competition in the desktop processor market is heating up once more.
For consumers, that is good news. Stronger competition between Intel and AMD usually leads to better prices, more choices, and faster innovation. Whether building a budget gaming PC, upgrading an older DDR4 platform, or assembling a high-performance workstation, buyers now have more compelling CPU options across multiple price ranges.
