New benchmarks for Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265K CPU have surfaced, revealing impressive single and multi-threaded performance that gives AMD’s AM5 chips a run for their money.
This latest leak showcases a notable improvement compared to previous results, highlighting the raw power of Intel’s upcoming chip. The Core Ultra 7 265K is set to be the second fastest in the Arrow Lake series, boasting 20 cores and 20 threads with base and boost clock speeds of 3.9 GHz and 5.5 GHz, respectively. It also packs a hefty 33 MB of L3 cache and runs with a 125W TDP (PL1). Users can expect adjustable power modes, with 177W as the default PL2 and 250W for peak performance.
Comparing specs, the Core Ultra 7 265K outshines the Core i7-14700K, which also features 20 cores but with 28 threads and similar cache and clock speeds. In single-core tests, the Core Ultra 7 265K scored 919 points, surpassing the 14700K by 2% and equaling the performance of the Core i9-14900K in its performance profile. Multi-core tests saw an even more impressive 10% lead over the 14700K, positioning it close to the baseline Core i9-14900K and ahead of AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X and 9950X in the same CPU-z benchmark.
In terms of thermal performance, the Core Ultra 7 265K demonstrates efficiency, running Prime95 torture tests at just 75°C with idle temperatures around 41°C. It maintains a locked voltage of 1.2V, offering stable and cool performance. Meanwhile, the Core Ultra 5 245K consumes between 120-140W in FPU stress tests, and the Core Ultra 7 265K operates at 170-190W. The top-tier Core Ultra 9 285K hits the 220-240W range. In Cinebench R23 benchmarks, the 7 265K sustains just 65°C under liquid cooling.
However, it’s important to take these early benchmarks with a grain of salt, as beta performance, power usage, and temperature metrics may not accurately reflect the final retail product. Final reviews will offer the most reliable insights once the CPUs officially launch on October 17th.
