Intel’s highly anticipated Arrow Lake CPUs are starting to surface online, sparking excitement ahead of their rumored late October launch. Among these, the Intel Core 7 250H has garnered attention, albeit as an unexpected twist in Intel’s strategy. In what seems to echo AMD’s recent tactics, Intel is reportedly repackaging silicon from its 13th- and 14th-Gen processors into the new Core 200 series, marking another iteration of the Raptor Lake refresh.
Recent leaks, notably from a Geekbench test, position the new Core 5 mobile CPU on par with AMD’s Ryzen 9 8945HS in terms of performance. The Core 7 250H is constructed on a Raptor Lake foundation, featuring a familiar layout of six performance cores (P-cores) and eight efficiency cores (E-cores). It boasts frequencies ranging from 2.5 GHz up to a peak of 5.187 GHz and includes a generous 24 MB of L3 Cache.
Looking at the Geekbench 6 results brings a promising picture. The Core 7 250H achieves 2,415 points in single-core performance and 13,201 points in multi-core performance. While these scores are impressive, the specs resemble those of the existing Intel Core i7-13800H and Core i5-14500HX. Despite this similarity, the benchmarks suggest that the CPU can still match or even exceed expectations in current competitive performance standards.
The Geekbench test was conducted on an MSI Katana laptop, which is known for being a budget-friendly option. It seems that Intel is drawing a line by positioning its Core Ultra processors as the top-tier, AI-capable units, whereas the standard Core versions seem set to power more affordable laptops. This shift could potentially lead to a decrease in prices for future Intel-driven budget laptops.
From a personal journey of tech exploration, the fascination began in high school, tinkering with a Motorola Defy and blossomed with the overclocking of an i7 930 in a pre-built Gigabyte PC. This passion paved the way to studying product design in university. The belief is that technology should enhance daily life across any field, and there’s great enthusiasm in exploring and discussing current developments in laptops, smartphones, software, and tech trends.
