Insta360 X6 Moves Closer to Launch After US FCC Approval
The next-generation Insta360 X6 appears to be getting closer to its official debut. The upcoming 360-degree action camera has now received FCC certification in the United States, a key step that often comes shortly before a product launch.
The US approval was granted on July 3 under FCC ID 2AWWH-CINSABXA, with the model code CINSABXA. The certification documents mention support for Wi-Fi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, Bluetooth connectivity, antenna components, and radiation exposure compliance.
This latest approval follows earlier certifications in China, the UAE, and India, which were reportedly completed in March. That multi-region certification pattern is similar to what happened ahead of previous Insta360 X-series launches, suggesting the X6 may now be entering its final pre-launch phase.
Insta360 has typically introduced its flagship 360 cameras in the spring. The Insta360 X4 arrived in April 2024, followed by the Insta360 X5 in April 2025. Based on that timeline, many expected the Insta360 X6 to appear earlier in 2026. However, the company appears to have taken a slower approach this time, focusing instead on expanding the X5 lineup throughout the year.
Rather than rushing the X6 to market, Insta360 released several special versions of the X5. These included a BMW Motorrad edition, a Satin White model, and the limited Insta360 X5 MM93 2025 Championship Edition. The MM93 version celebrated Marc Marquez’s ninth Grand Prix World Championship title and was limited to 9,393 units.
That special edition kept the same core hardware as the standard Insta360 X5 but added exclusive design details, Marquez-themed branding, a year of Insta360+ cloud storage, and bonus 360-degree footage featuring Marquez.
While Insta360 has not officially confirmed the X6 specifications, early expectations point to a meaningful upgrade over the X5. One of the biggest rumored improvements is 8K 360-degree video recording at 60 frames per second, doubling the frame rate of the X5’s 8K 30fps capability. If accurate, this would make the X6 a major upgrade for action sports, travel creators, vloggers, and anyone who wants smoother high-resolution 360 video.
Other rumored Insta360 X6 features include improved HDR performance, better color depth, larger image sensors, and stronger low-light image quality. The camera may also deliver photo resolution above 100MP, along with improved image stitching for cleaner panoramic shots.
Battery life could also see an upgrade. Reports suggest the Insta360 X6 may feature a battery capacity somewhere between 2,600mAh and 3,000mAh, which would help support longer shooting sessions, especially when recording high-resolution 360-degree video.
The rugged and waterproof design that defines the Insta360 X-series is also expected to continue. That would make the X6 suitable for outdoor adventures, extreme sports, cycling, motorcycling, travel, and underwater-style action shooting, depending on its final water-resistance rating.
At this stage, none of the rumored specifications have been confirmed by Insta360. However, FCC certification usually indicates that a product is moving closer to release. With approvals now completed in several major markets, the Insta360 X6 launch could happen in late August or September 2026.
If the rumors prove accurate, the Insta360 X6 could become one of the most exciting 360 cameras of the year, especially for creators waiting for smoother 8K video, better low-light performance, improved battery life, and sharper high-resolution photos.
