IKEA has officially rolled out its new Solskydd Bluetooth speaker in multiple countries, making it easy to bring a fresh, design-forward audio option into your home. First revealed in November 2025, the Solskydd launch also arrives alongside the Kulglass Bluetooth speaker lamp. The collection was created in collaboration with designer Tekla Evelina Severin, also known as Teklan, blending playful color choices with a practical, everyday speaker setup.
One of the biggest draws of the IKEA Solskydd lineup is choice. It comes in three sizes, each aimed at a slightly different type of listener and space. The smallest option is an 8-inch (19 cm) portable model wrapped in a patterned orange fabric. Step up to the 11-inch (29 cm) version and you’ll find a bold diagonal stripe look in green, pink, and blue. The largest 18-inch (45 cm speaker) is finished in a beige-and-orange colorway designed to feel warmer and more neutral in a living room setting. Prefer something calmer? All three sizes are also offered in a more understated style with textured white fabric and a white frame.
Across the range, the Solskydd speakers use Bluetooth to stream music, podcasts, and other audio from a phone, tablet, or laptop. They also include Spotify Tap support, which is designed to help you jump right back into whatever you were listening to, or start a playlist based on your listening habits without digging through menus.
The differences become more noticeable when you look at the hardware and sound output. The 8-inch portable Solskydd speaker uses a 2.5-inch driver and is rated up to 80.5 dB. It includes a built-in rechargeable battery rated for up to 25 hours, and it comes with a stand to help it fit naturally on a table, shelf, or nightstand—ideal if you want a truly grab-and-go Bluetooth speaker.
The larger two models are built more like home speakers. The 11-inch version includes a 1-inch tweeter paired with a 4-inch woofer, reaching up to 83.6 dB. The 18-inch model features the same 1-inch tweeter plus two 3-inch woofers, pushing up to 93.6 dB for a higher maximum volume suited to bigger rooms or more energetic listening. These two larger speaker sizes also include three EQ settings, and they support pairing two speakers together for stereo playback.
Pricing varies by size. The IKEA Solskydd Portable Bluetooth speaker (8-inch/19 cm) is listed at $49.99, £29.00, or €49.99. The mid-size Solskydd Bluetooth speaker (11-inch/29 cm) costs $69.99, £50.00, or €69.99. The large Solskydd Bluetooth speaker (18-inch/45 cm) is priced at $99.99, £80.00, or €99.99.
