ICARUS Soars onto Consoles in 2026

ICARUS is crash-landing on consoles. Publisher Grip Studios and developer RocketWerkz have confirmed ICARUS: Console Edition for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, targeting a 2026 release. This edition does not support cross-play. The PvE survival hit, created by DayZ designer Dean Hall, has been challenging PC players since 2021.

Set on a once-promising world ruined by failed terraforming, ICARUS drops you onto a hostile planet where the air can poison you, storms rip apart your handiwork, wildfires rage unchecked, and predators hunt with unnerving patience. Every descent from orbit is a high-stakes expedition: build shelter, craft weapons and tools, hunt for food, and chase exotic matter that can change your fortunes—if it doesn’t kill you first.

ICARUS: Console Edition includes the New Frontiers expansion from day one, significantly expanding the experience with new regions, threats, and rewards. A new trailer showcases the brutal new environments and dangers that await.

What makes ICARUS stand out
– A planet that fights back: Expect toxic atmospheres, lightning that shreds structures, spreading wildfires, and cunning wildlife.
– Massive handcrafted spaces: Explore two 64 km2 maps across lush forests, jagged mountains, scorching deserts, and cavern networks.
– Total resource harvesting: Almost everything you see—trees, rocks, wildlife—can be harvested and used.
– Dynamic survival: Adapt to extreme weather and natural disasters to stay alive and keep your base intact.

New Frontiers included from the start
– New region, Prometheus: Once locked down by the UDA, this area showcases raw alien terrain warped by terraforming failures.
– New biomes: Alien grasslands, volcanic zones riddled with molten lava, and treacherous swamplands.
– Six narrative missions: Pursue a mysterious UDA whistleblower through a connected story across Prometheus.
– New creatures: Face Needlers, Dracs, Dreadwings, and other evolved apex threats built to dominate their ecosystems.
– New exotics: Discover a volatile exotic with unique effects on local flora, plus new exotic plants and 30+ additional workshop items.
– New resources and gear: Mine obsidian, clay, scoria, crystallised miasma, and super-cooled ice. Craft 100+ new items spanning weapons, food, recipes, and new building tiers.

Choose your survival style
– Open World: Establish a permanent base and explore at your own pace.
– Missions: Take on timed contracts where extraction is everything.
– Outposts: Chill, creative zones for building and experimentation without the pressure.

Progression and long-term rewards
– Tech tree and talents: Evolve from stone tools to advanced technology.
– Specialization: Lean into roles like hunter, builder, or all-around survivalist.
– Orbital Workshop: Trade exotic matter for permanent upgrades and equipment. Exotic matter is rare, unstable, and always dangerous to pursue—making every successful haul meaningful.

Play solo or with friends
– Up to four players can drop together, combining skills and sharing resources.
– Prefer to go alone? A dedicated Solo Talent Tree ups the challenge and rewards.
– Note: ICARUS: Console Edition does not support cross-play.

ICARUS: Console Edition brings the full, unforgiving loop of drop, survive, extract, and upgrade to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in 2026, with New Frontiers built in. If you’ve been waiting to test your survival instincts on console, the planet is ready to push back.
