Two Huge LEGO Icons Sets From Lord of the Rings and Dune Reportedly Leak for 2027
LEGO fans may have two massive licensed display sets to look forward to in early 2027. According to a new leak from LEGO insider Brick Tap, two upcoming LEGO Icons releases are currently planned for January 1, 2027: a Lord of the Rings Oliphaunt diorama and a Dune Sandworm model.
Neither set has been officially announced by LEGO, so the details should be treated as rumors for now. Still, the information is already generating excitement among collectors, especially because both builds are based on some of the most memorable creatures from modern fantasy and science fiction.
The first rumored set is LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings: Oliphaunt, listed as set number 11395. The build is said to include 2,017 pieces and will reportedly recreate the massive Mûmakil, the giant elephant-like war beasts used by the Haradrim in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
If accurate, this could become one of the most visually striking LEGO Lord of the Rings sets yet. The Oliphaunt is a perfect subject for a large display model, with its towering size, armored platform, tusks, and battlefield presence. A diorama-style approach could make the set especially appealing to adult collectors who want a dramatic Middle-earth centerpiece.
The leak also claims that minifigures will be included, although the exact character lineup has not been revealed. Possible choices could include Haradrim soldiers, Riders of Rohan, or key heroes from the Pelennor Fields battle, but for now, LEGO fans will have to wait for more concrete details.
The 2,017-piece count is also notable because it matches the piece count of LEGO Icons The Shire, a previous Lord of the Rings release. No official price has been shared for the Oliphaunt set, but given the scale, licensing, and collectible nature of the LEGO Icons line, it is expected to land in the premium price range.
The second rumored release is LEGO Icons Dune: Sandworm, listed as set number 11392. This set is said to include 1,837 pieces and carry a price of $140.
That pricing would make the Sandworm an interesting value compared with the previously released LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter, which had fewer pieces and a higher launch price. If the leaked piece count and price are correct, the Sandworm could offer a strong price-per-piece ratio for a licensed LEGO Icons set.
A LEGO Sandworm also feels like a natural follow-up for the Dune theme. The giant creatures of Arrakis are central to the story’s worldbuilding, making them one of the most recognizable images from the franchise. A brick-built Sandworm could work as a display model, a desert diorama, or even a dynamic scene featuring spice harvesters and Fremen elements, depending on how LEGO chooses to design it.
The reported January 2027 release window could also be well timed, as interest in Dune is expected to remain strong while the next film installment continues development. LEGO has already shown that Dune can work as a premium collector theme, and a Sandworm would likely appeal to both LEGO builders and science fiction fans.
For now, both sets remain unconfirmed. LEGO has not revealed official images, pricing for the Oliphaunt, minifigure details, dimensions, or final release information. As with all early LEGO leaks, plans may change before launch.
Still, the possibility of a LEGO Lord of the Rings Oliphaunt and a LEGO Dune Sandworm arriving in the same month is enough to spark major interest. If the leak proves accurate, January 2027 could be a standout moment for LEGO Icons collectors, bringing two legendary creatures from two beloved franchises into brick-built form.
