Huawei FreeClip 2 S launch in Europe with redesigned case, metallic finish, and open-ear comfort
Huawei has introduced the FreeClip 2 S earbuds in Europe, bringing a more stylish version of its open-ear audio lineup to a wider market. Based on the FreeClip 2 released in 2025, this new model arrives with a refreshed design, a larger charging case, and a polished metallic look that gives the earbuds a more premium feel.
The FreeClip 2 S first appeared in China as a special collector-focused edition, but Huawei is now positioning it for European buyers who want wireless earbuds that combine comfort, practicality, and fashion-friendly design.
One of the biggest changes is the charging case. Huawei has moved away from the earlier AirPods-style case design and replaced it with a larger, almost spherical case. The company says the new case offers 20% more storage space, making it roomy enough to hold small accessories or jewelry in addition to the earbuds. It is an unusual approach for wireless earbuds, but it helps the FreeClip 2 S stand out in a crowded market.
The earbuds themselves have also been refined. Huawei says the C-bridge design is now 25% softer, which should make the earbuds more comfortable for long listening sessions. The previous grooved finish has been replaced with a smoother, more uniform surface, while the metallic coating gives the earbuds a more elegant appearance.
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S comes in two color options: Metallic Blue and Silver. Both versions are designed to look more like wearable accessories than traditional earbuds, which fits well with the open-ear, clip-on style of the FreeClip series.
In terms of audio and smart features, the FreeClip 2 S keeps the same core hardware and functionality as the standard FreeClip 2. The earbuds feature 10.8mm dual-diaphragm drivers, adaptive volume adjustment, adaptive voice enhancement, and a three-microphone noise cancellation system for clearer calls.
They also carry an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, making them suitable for workouts, daily commuting, and outdoor use. Another convenient feature is automatic left-right recognition. The earbuds are not labeled as left or right, because they can automatically detect which ear they are placed on and adjust the audio channel accordingly.
For controls, users get head motion controls along with tap and touch gestures. This gives wearers multiple ways to manage calls, playback, and other functions without needing to reach for their phone.
Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 6.0, and the earbuds also support Bluetooth Multipoint, allowing them to connect to more than one device. Battery life is rated at up to 9 hours on a single charge, while the charging case extends total playback time to up to 38 hours. Fast charging is also supported.
Codec support includes SBC, AAC, and L2HC. However, the FreeClip 2 S does not support LDAC, LHDC, or aptX.
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S is available in Europe for €229. For a limited time, buyers can get the earbuds for €199 until August 21, 2026. Huawei is also offering a €229 bundle that includes the earbuds along with a jewelry piece from French costume jewelry brand Les Néréides.
With its redesigned case, softer fit, metallic finish, and strong battery life, the Huawei FreeClip 2 S is aimed at users who want open-ear wireless earbuds that are as much a fashion accessory as they are an audio device.
