HP Omen Max 16 Gets Major Price Drop Ahead of Shipping
HP’s latest 16-inch gaming laptop has already received a major discount before it even begins shipping, making the new HP Omen Max 16 a far more competitive option for gamers looking for high-end Intel processors and Nvidia RTX graphics.
When HP first listed the new Omen Max 16, Intel-based configurations started at $2,679. Now, the entry price has dropped to $1,999 for a model equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU. That is a discount of more than $650 compared to the original starting price, giving buyers a much lower barrier to entry for HP’s newest premium gaming machine.
The Omen Max 16 is aimed at users who want serious gaming performance in a modern laptop form factor. With Intel Arrow Lake HX-class processors and Nvidia’s latest mobile graphics options, the system is designed for demanding games, high-refresh-rate displays, content creation, and heavy multitasking.
However, HP’s pricing structure may require a closer look. While some Intel models are now much cheaper than before, not every configuration has become less expensive. A previously available high-end setup with an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor, GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, 64 GB of RAM, 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage, and a 240 Hz OLED display was listed at $4,469 last month. That same configuration now appears at $4,769, despite being presented as discounted from a higher MSRP of $5,569.
AMD-powered versions of the Omen Max 16 have also seen price adjustments. A configuration with the Ryzen AI 7 450, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 240 Hz IPS display was previously priced at $2,899. It is now listed at $2,699, suggesting HP has also reduced pricing on AMD models, possibly as a more permanent adjustment.
Even with the mixed pricing changes, the current Intel-based starting price makes the Omen Max 16 significantly more appealing than it was at launch. For shoppers comparing premium gaming laptops in 2026, a 16-inch model with a Core Ultra 7 processor and RTX 5070 Ti graphics at under $2,000 is likely to attract attention.
As always with early discounts and manufacturer pricing, availability and final pricing may change quickly. Buyers interested in the HP Omen Max 16 should compare configurations carefully, especially since higher-end models do not appear to have received the same level of savings as the base Intel version.
