HP StarBook Plus 14 Debuts With Intel Wildcat Lake Chip, OLED Display, and Slim MacBook Neo Rival Design
HP has officially introduced the StarBook Plus 14 in China, adding a sleek new option to the growing lineup of Intel Wildcat Lake laptops. Positioned as a premium 14-inch notebook, the new model appears ready to compete with Apple’s MacBook Neo, while offering one key advantage: an OLED display.
The HP StarBook Plus 14 comes with a 14-inch touchscreen OLED panel featuring a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a productivity-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio. While HP has not revealed the display’s peak brightness, the panel supports a 60Hz refresh rate and is rated for 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. That should make it appealing for users who want richer colors, deeper contrast, and a better visual experience than a standard IPS screen.
Inside, the laptop is powered by the Intel Core 5 320, a mid-range processor from Intel’s Wildcat Lake family. The chip includes a 6-core CPU paired with a 2-core Xe3 integrated GPU, making it suitable for everyday productivity, web browsing, streaming, office work, and light creative tasks. HP pairs the processor with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, which should help deliver smooth multitasking performance.
For storage, the launch configuration includes a 512GB SSD. The storage is expected to be upgradeable, giving users more flexibility if they need additional space for apps, media, documents, or work files.
Portability is another major selling point of the HP StarBook Plus 14. The laptop weighs just 1.3kg, or around 2.86 pounds, and measures as thin as 13.7mm. That makes it a practical choice for students, professionals, and frequent travelers who want a lightweight machine without sacrificing screen quality.
Despite its slim profile, HP has included a useful selection of ports. The StarBook Plus 14 features two USB Type-A ports, two 10Gbps USB Type-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode, one HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. This gives the laptop strong connectivity for external displays, accessories, storage drives, and everyday peripherals.
Other notable features include a 59Wh battery, 65W fast charging support, and an infrared camera for secure login. HP has also added a physical privacy shutter for the camera, which is a welcome feature for users who care about security and privacy.
The HP StarBook Plus 14 has launched in China with a starting price of CNY 5,998, which is roughly $882. While HP has not yet confirmed international pricing or availability, the laptop is expected to reach global markets alongside other new Intel Wildcat Lake-powered notebooks.
With its OLED touchscreen, slim metal-style design, modern Intel processor, strong port selection, and lightweight build, the HP StarBook Plus 14 could become an attractive alternative for buyers looking for a compact premium laptop that balances portability, display quality, and everyday performance.
