Honor Magic V3 sarcastic apology

Honor Issues a Subtle Apology to Samsung, Throws Shade at Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung was the trailblazer in the foldable phone market, introducing innovations that many users had eagerly awaited. However, the company has recently faced challenges in maintaining its leadership position as competition intensifies, with other companies striving to bring new advancements in foldable technology. Honor has captured the tech community’s attention with its Magic V3, which sets a record for being the thinnest foldable phone. The company recently subtly criticized Samsung with a cleverly engraved message.

Honor, aiming to outdo Samsung, initially made headlines with its 10mm thick Magic V2. But it has now broken its own record by developing the 9.2mm thick Magic V3. This achievement demonstrates Honor’s commitment to innovating and enhancing the user experience.

With the release of the world’s thinnest foldable phone just around the corner, Honor found a unique way to mock the pioneering company for not meeting the same design standards. To do this, Honor collaborated with renowned micro-engraver Graham Short. The artist was hired to etch a tiny but cheeky apology on the Magic V3, specifically targeting Samsung Galaxy Z Fold owners, insinuating they were settling for an inferior product.

The engraved message reads:
“Dear Samsung Galaxy Z Fold owners, we’re sorry. We know you were excited to buy a phone that folds in half and fits in your pocket, awkwardly. You were promised the future, a technical marvel, a world of boundless multitasking and performance. And now, you’re probably looking at the new HONOR Magic V3 and feeling a little… betrayed. Size matters, and we feel your pain. Like being tipped for a gold medal and then coming last in the race, the knowledge that a thinner, lighter, and more durable foldable exists is enough to make anyone question their choices. We get it. You were an early adopter, a pioneer bravely venturing into the uncharted territory of foldable screens with questionable durability. You deserve better. In fact, you deserve a gold medal. In all seriousness, we at HONOR are committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and bringing you the best possible foldable experience. We’re just saying… it’s okay to feel let down. We’d feel the same way.”

Complete in about 90 hours, the intricate and challenging task of engraving this message on the thin and durable structure of the Magic V3 could only be accomplished with diamond-tipped tools.

Honor not only introduced the industry’s thinnest foldable phone, but it also implemented a clever marketing strategy to highlight its position as a significant contender in the foldable phone market.
