HMD Slate Tab 5G leakes as mid-range tablet with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, 10.6-inch display and Lumia design

HMD Global is set to launch a new mid-range tablet that takes design cues from the popular Nokia Lumia 920. The upcoming tablet, named the HMB Slate Tab 5G, is poised to offer users a combination of style and functionality with its colorful back and flat frame.

The HMD Slate Tab 5G will be equipped with a 10.6-inch IPS display boasting a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The display is safeguarded by Gorilla Glass 3, providing resistance to everyday scratches and ensuring durability. This device incorporates an 8-megapixel front-facing camera nestled within the slim bezel that surrounds the screen, accommodating video calls and selfies.

On the rear, a 13-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with an LED flash promises quality photos and videos. Users will also benefit from the inclusion of stereo speakers, NFC support for contactless interactions, and three microphones for clear audio capture. The HMD Slate Tab 5G is designed for versatility, featuring four metal pins on the back to attach a keyboard cover, and it is stylus-compatible for note-taking and drawing.

At the heart of the Slate Tab 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. This 4nm ARM chipset includes four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores clocking in at up to 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 1.95 GHz. Alongside the potent CPU, the tablet is configured with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, which is expandable via microSD card, providing ample space for apps, media, and documents.

Keeping the lights on is a substantial 9,250 mAh battery that supports up to 30-watt charging via a USB-C connection. In terms of connectivity, the tablet doesn’t skimp with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.2, and an integrated 5G modem for rapid data access on the go.

While the price and release date of the HMD Slate Tab 5G remain under wraps, HMD Global is expected to complement this device with two additional models aimed at even more budget-friendly price points: the HMD Tab and the HMD Tab Lite.

HMD Global’s venture into the tablet segment with the Slate Tab 5G marks a significant step towards providing tech consumers with more options in the mid-range market. Combining attractive features such as a high-performance chipset, a high-definition display, and robust design elements, this tablet is anticipated to be a noteworthy addition to the company’s product lineup.
