GTA 6 Leak Reveals Leonida’s Most Detailed Map Yet — But It’s Not as Huge as Fans Hoped

GTA 6 Map Update Reveals the Most Detailed Look Yet at Leonida

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are getting their clearest unofficial look yet at Leonida, the massive state expected to serve as the setting for Rockstar Games’ next open-world blockbuster. A newly updated Version 16 of the community-made GTA 6 map has added a huge amount of detail, including more roads, buildings, coastlines, districts, and landmarks.

The latest reconstruction gives players a better idea of how Vice City and the wider Leonida region may be laid out when GTA 6 launches. While the map is still based on community research and unofficial analysis, it has become one of the most detailed fan projects surrounding the game so far.

The GTA 6 community map has been carefully rebuilt using a mix of available footage, trailer details, and alleged leaked material. Version 16 appears to rely partly on a rumored map leak from August 18, along with scenes shown in Rockstar’s Extended Look. Fans have compared streets, coastlines, bridges, buildings, camera angles, and environmental features to create a more complete version of Leonida.

This new update makes major changes across several areas. Coastlines and beaches have been reshaped, city blocks have been adjusted, and county borders have been reworked. New roads and structures have also been added across key locations such as Vice City, Key Lento, Hamlet, Capri, and Ambrosia.

Vice City, expected to be the heart of GTA 6, has received some of the biggest improvements. The updated map now shows more detailed urban layouts, extra alleyways, new road connections, helipads, parking zones, and industrial areas. These additions help paint a clearer picture of what could become one of Rockstar’s most complex city environments to date.

The elevation map has also been revised. This means the community has made fresh adjustments to hills, terrain levels, and land formations across Leonida. These changes could be especially important for understanding how the world may feel while driving, flying, boating, or exploring on foot.

One of the most surprising parts of Version 16 is the revised scale. Earlier estimates suggested Leonida might be larger than it now appears. The latest version uses a 1 x 1 km grid, placing the full mapped area at around 21 x 20 km. However, that does not mean the playable landmass is 420 km², since much of that space includes water or areas outside the reconstructed land.

According to the latest community estimate, the actual land area of Leonida is now believed to be around 85.6 km². That is a noticeable drop from the previous estimate of nearly 110 km² in Version 15. The reduction comes from improved scaling and a more accurate interpretation of Leonida’s shape based on newer information.

Even with the smaller estimate, GTA 6 still appears to have a massive open world. For comparison, GTA 5’s land area is commonly estimated by fans to be just under 50 km². If the new Leonida estimate is close to accurate, GTA 6 could offer a significantly larger landmass than Los Santos and Blaine County.

What makes this especially exciting is that size is only part of the story. Rockstar is known for dense, highly detailed worlds filled with traffic, pedestrians, interiors, side activities, wildlife, secrets, and environmental storytelling. If Leonida combines a larger map with the level of detail shown in official footage, GTA 6 could deliver one of the richest open-world experiences in gaming.

Of course, the Version 16 map is still unofficial. Until Rockstar reveals the full GTA 6 map, every fan reconstruction should be treated as an estimate. Details may change before launch, and some areas may look very different in the final game.

Still, the latest community update gives fans plenty to talk about. From the expanded detail in Vice City to the revised shape of Leonida, Version 16 offers the most complete glimpse yet at the world players may soon explore. Smaller than some earlier predictions, but still far larger than GTA 5, Leonida is shaping up to be a huge and ambitious setting for Grand Theft Auto 6.
