Grand Seiko is expanding its Heritage Collection with two new compact quartz watches arriving in January 2027: the SBGX363 and SBGX365. Designed for those who prefer smaller case sizes without giving up finishing quality or precision, both models bring a refined, vintage-inspired look paired with Grand Seiko’s high-accuracy quartz technology.
Each watch uses the modernized 62GS case design, a style rooted in Grand Seiko history and inspired by the brand’s first automatic watch from 1967. One of the defining traits of this case is the bezel-free construction, which leaves more of the dial exposed and allows light to play across the surface from multiple angles. The result is a dial-forward presence that feels elegant and intentionally minimal.
The stainless steel case measures 32.3 mm in diameter, with a 39.0 mm lug-to-lug length and a slim 9.0 mm thickness. That thin profile is made possible by the Caliber 9F51, Grand Seiko’s most compact high-accuracy quartz movement. Case finishing follows the clean, sharp aesthetic associated with the 62GS family, including the brand’s signature mirror-like polishing and crisp transitions between surfaces.
Both dials are built around the “Hana-Ikada” theme, a poetic reference to cherry blossom petals drifting across water. The SBGX363 features a soft pink tone intended to evoke the vernal equinox, giving it a light, spring-like warmth. The SBGX365 takes a different mood, using a deep blue textured dial meant to represent the same floating petals under moonlight. To preserve the dial pattern and keep the design balanced, both watches are time-only and skip the date window.
A box-shaped sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating covers the dial, keeping the profile subtly vintage while improving clarity in real-world lighting. On the wrist, the watches come with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a 15 mm lug width and a tapered shape for a more comfortable, close-fitting feel.
Inside, the Caliber 9F51 is rated at ±10 seconds per year, placing it among the most accurate quartz movements available in regular production watches. It also includes hallmark features designed to improve performance and legibility, such as a Twin Pulse Control Motor to confidently drive heavier hands and an auto-adjust system that helps the seconds hand land cleanly on each marker. A regulation switch is included as well, allowing fine-tuning during long-term servicing.
For everyday durability, both models are built with 10 bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. A screw-down crown and screw-down case back help support those ratings, making these compact watches as practical as they are elegant.
Grand Seiko plans a global rollout through boutiques and select salons, with pricing to be confirmed at launch in January 2027. For collectors and fans of smaller watches, the SBGX363 and SBGX365 look set to deliver a distinctive mix of heritage case design, seasonal cherry blossom-inspired dials, and serious high-accuracy quartz engineering.
