SpotHero, a dynamic parking startup, has just taken a significant leap forward by teaming up with Google to revolutionize the way drivers find and reserve parking spaces. This exciting collaboration, announced on Tuesday, makes it simpler than ever for U.S. and Canadian drivers to locate and reserve parking at over 8,000 locations directly through Google Maps and Google Search.
Imagine you’re searching for a place to eat downtown or heading to a big event, and you want to avoid the hassle of finding a parking spot. Now, with this new feature, you can effortlessly locate available parking nearby. Simply tap the “Book Online” button through either Google Maps or Search, and you’ll be swiftly directed to the SpotHero website to complete your reservation, all without leaving the app. Plus, you have the convenience of securing your space in advance, along with options for spots that offer EV charging, wheelchair accessibility, and valet services.
The partnership stands out as a notable advancement because Google’s own portfolio doesn’t include a native parking reservation tool. However, it’s not Google’s first parking-related integration—previously, Google Maps enabled users to pay for parking via ParkMobile.
For SpotHero, this integration is a landmark achievement, considering the expansive reach of Google Maps and Search, which are used by billions globally. This new collaboration promises to significantly boost SpotHero’s visibility, earning them a 35% share on each reservation made.
SpotHero proudly serves more than 10 million drivers across North America and is edging close to a remarkable $1.5 billion in parking reservations. Last year, the company joined forces with Apple Maps, expanding its reach to iPhone and Mac users.
Google continues to enhance its applications by introducing more versatile functionalities to keep users engaged. This latest integration builds on a recent update where Google Maps started to provide more comprehensive details about destinations and guidance to nearby parking spots, enhancing the user experience as they approach their selected location.
