Google Integrates NVIDIA Blackwell GB200 NVL Racks with Liquid Cooling for Advanced AI Cloud Solutions

Google is stepping into the spotlight with its latest move to enhance its Cloud platform using custom NVIDIA Blackwell GB200 NVL racks. In a bid to boost computing performance and cater to a growing market demand, Google Cloud has unveiled its first server equipped with these advanced racks, which promise to revolutionize processing speeds.

As one of the top contenders in the global cloud services market, holding an impressive 12% market share, Google aims to solidify its position as the third-largest cloud service provider. The introduction of NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL racks is a strategic step to offer unmatched speed and efficiency for its users.

The announcement, made through Google Cloud’s official account, showcased a sneak peek of their custom GB200 NVL racks fitted with liquid-cooled B200 GPUs. Each GB200 chip is a powerhouse, featuring a Grace CPU and a B200 Blackwell data center graphics chip, delivering an extraordinary 90 TFLOPS of FP64 performance.

Google’s collaboration with NVIDIA highlights their joint effort to pave the way for sustainable and cutting-edge compute infrastructure. While the specifics of Google’s custom configuration are not entirely disclosed, it’s speculated to be as powerful as NVIDIA’s standard GB200 NVL72, which integrates 36 Grace CPUs with 72 Blackwell GPUs. This configuration boasts incredible capabilities, offering up to 130 TB/s of bandwidth and a staggering 3240 TFLOPS of FP64 performance, including a substantial 13.5 TB of HBM3e memory.

Google isn’t the first tech giant to dip its toes into the potent capabilities of the GB200 NVL racks. Microsoft has already adopted these racks, also featuring liquid cooling, showcasing the growing trend among leading tech companies. Additionally, Foxconn is leveraging GB200 NVL72 racks to construct Taiwan’s fastest supercomputer, underlining the widespread industry adoption.
