GMKtec’s $6,599 EVO-X5 Pro Brings 320B-Parameter AI Models to a Single-Chip Workstation

GMKtec has officially launched the EVO-X5 Pro, a flagship AI mini PC designed to deliver high-end artificial intelligence performance directly on the device. Built around AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, the compact workstation targets creators, developers, researchers, and professionals who need serious local AI computing power without relying entirely on cloud services.

The GMKtec EVO-X5 Pro is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, a Zen 5-based chip featuring 16 cores and 32 threads. The processor can boost up to 5.2 GHz, giving the mini PC enough CPU performance for demanding multitasking, development work, AI processing, content creation, and professional workloads.

Graphics performance comes from the integrated Radeon 8065S GPU, based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture. With 40 compute units, this iGPU is built for far more than basic display output, offering strong performance for GPU-accelerated applications and AI-focused tasks. The chip also includes an upgraded NPU, helping the system reach up to 131 AI TOPS of performance.

One of the biggest highlights of the EVO-X5 Pro is its ability to run large AI models locally. GMKtec says the system was initially designed to support 300-billion-parameter AI models, but after further optimization, it can now run 320B-parameter large language models on-device. That makes it a powerful option for users working with advanced AI tools, local LLMs, model testing, and private AI workflows.

The mini PC comes with 192 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory, and up to 160 GB of that memory can be allocated as VRAM. This large shared memory pool is a major advantage for AI workloads, where memory capacity often plays a critical role in handling massive models.

Storage flexibility is another strong point. The EVO-X5 Pro includes three M.2 2280 SSD slots, giving users plenty of room for expansion. The base configuration includes 2 TB of storage, but the system can be upgraded to as much as 24 TB by installing three 8 TB M.2 SSDs. This makes it suitable for users who need to store large datasets, AI models, project files, media libraries, and development environments locally.

Connectivity is also built for workstation-level use. The EVO-X5 Pro includes two USB4 40 Gbps ports, two USB4 v2 80 Gbps ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode, four USB Type-A ports, and dual 10 GbE LAN ports. This setup gives users fast external storage support, high-speed networking, multi-display capability, and plenty of room for peripherals.

GMKtec is currently offering the EVO-X5 Pro with 192 GB of memory and 2 TB of storage for $6,599, down from its regular $6,799 price. A higher-capacity version with 192 GB of memory and 4 TB of storage is listed at $6,899. For users who prefer to install their own SSDs, the 2 TB model may be the more practical choice.

With the EVO-X5 Pro, GMKtec is positioning itself strongly in the growing market for AI mini PCs and compact workstations. By combining AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, massive unified memory, expandable storage, high-speed connectivity, and local AI model support, the EVO-X5 Pro is aimed at users who want desktop-class AI performance in a much smaller form factor.
