GMKtec EVO-X1 Pro Debuts as a Powerful Compact Mini PC With Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 and 64 GB RAM
GMKtec has introduced the EVO-X1 Pro, a new compact mini PC designed for users who want strong performance in a small desktop footprint. The system arrives with AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor, a newer chip from the Gorgon Point lineup that builds on the foundation of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
While the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 is closely related to its predecessor, it brings slightly improved CPU performance in benchmark testing. One of the more notable upgrades is the integrated Radeon 890M graphics, which now runs at up to 3.1 GHz. That is nearly a 7% increase over the previous 2.9 GHz clock speed, giving the EVO-X1 Pro a little more graphics power for everyday creative workloads, light gaming, media tasks, and AI-assisted applications.
The EVO-X1 Pro also keeps several enthusiast-friendly features from the earlier EVO-X1. OCuLink support returns, giving users the option to connect an external GPU for a major graphics performance boost. This makes the mini PC more flexible for those who may want a compact machine for daily use but still need stronger GPU power when gaming, editing video, or handling demanding visual workloads.
For storage, the mini PC includes a PCIe Gen 4 SSD slot, allowing fast read and write speeds for quicker boot times, faster file transfers, and improved app loading. Networking is handled by dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, which can be useful for home servers, professional workstations, office setups, and users who need reliable wired connectivity.
GMKtec is offering the EVO-X1 Pro with up to 64 GB of RAM, making it a capable choice for multitasking, productivity, virtual machines, and heavier desktop workloads. However, one important change is the memory type. The original EVO-X1 used faster LPDDR5X-7500 memory, while the EVO-X1 Pro comes with LPDDR5-6400 RAM. Although this is still fast memory, the downgrade may matter to users who rely heavily on integrated graphics performance, since iGPUs benefit from higher memory bandwidth.
In China, the GMKtec EVO-X1 Pro is already available in a configuration with 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for CNY 9,999, which is approximately $1,469. A global launch is expected on July 14, with international pricing listed at $1,249.
Overall, the GMKtec EVO-X1 Pro looks like a strong option for anyone shopping for a premium AMD Ryzen mini PC with a compact design, modern AI-capable processor, OCuLink expansion, fast PCIe Gen 4 storage support, and generous memory capacity.
