GMKtec Evo-X5 Pro launches with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, 192GB RAM, and up to 160GB VRAM
The GMKtec Evo-X5 Pro has officially gone on sale after its first appearance at IFA 2026, and it is shaping up to be one of the most powerful compact workstation-style mini PCs available right now. Built around AMD’s high-end Gorgon Halo platform, this small-form-factor machine targets users who need serious performance for AI workloads, creative production, development, virtualization, and graphics-heavy tasks without moving to a full desktop tower.
GMKtec is offering the Evo-X5 Pro in two configurations. The entry model comes with 192GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD for $6,599, while the upgraded version keeps the same 192GB memory capacity but doubles the pre-installed storage to 4TB for $6,899. That starting price puts it slightly below the rival MS-S1 Max-P495, while still delivering a very premium hardware package.
The biggest upgrade over the GMKtec Evo-X3 is the processor. The Evo-X5 Pro uses the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, one of the top chips in the Gorgon Halo lineup. This APU includes the Radeon 8065S integrated GPU, making the system far more capable than a typical mini PC when it comes to graphics and compute performance.
One of the standout features is memory allocation. With 192GB of system RAM installed, the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 can assign up to 160GB of unified memory as VRAM. That is a major step up from the 96GB limit found on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395. For users working with large AI models, high-resolution creative projects, or demanding GPU-accelerated tasks, that extra available graphics memory could make the Evo-X5 Pro especially appealing.
The Gorgon Halo chip also supports faster 8533MT/s memory, and the Radeon 8065S iGPU runs at a slightly higher clock speed than the Radeon 8060S. While this is still integrated graphics, the overall platform is designed to blur the line between traditional mini PCs and compact workstations.
In many other areas, the Evo-X5 Pro is similar to the more affordable Evo-X3, which is available in a 128GB RAM and 2TB storage configuration. However, GMKtec has made some meaningful changes to the port layout and expansion options. The Evo-X5 Pro includes two USB4 v2 ports, two USB4 ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, two 10GbE ports, two 3.5mm audio jacks, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and one HDMI 2.1 port.
Compared with the Evo-X3, the Evo-X5 Pro drops the OCuLink port but adds USB4 v2 connectivity. Storage expansion is also improved, with three M.2 slots instead of two. Fully expanded, the mini PC can support up to 24TB of total storage, making it suitable for users who need a compact system with plenty of local capacity.
Wireless connectivity is modern as well, with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 included. That gives the Evo-X5 Pro faster wireless networking potential and improved compatibility with newer peripherals.
GMKtec has also equipped the Evo-X5 Pro with three power modes, a triple-fan cooling system, a rackable chassis design, and AMD DASH support. These additions make it clear that the machine is not just aimed at casual users, but also at professionals, businesses, developers, and advanced home lab setups.
With its AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor, Radeon 8065S graphics, 192GB RAM, up to 160GB allocatable VRAM, dual 10GbE networking, USB4 v2 support, and massive storage expansion, the GMKtec Evo-X5 Pro stands out as a high-performance mini PC built for demanding workloads. It is expensive, but for users who want workstation-class capability in a compact form factor, it is one of the most ambitious mini PCs currently available.
