GMKtec EVO-X3 Mini PC Shows Serious 1440p Gaming Power With Ryzen AI Max+ 395
The GMKtec EVO-X3 is shaping up to be far more than just another compact desktop. First introduced in June as GMKtec’s most powerful Mini PC to date, this small-form-factor machine is built around AMD’s 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, and the Radeon 8060S integrated GPU.
On paper, the EVO-X3 is aimed at users who want serious local AI performance in a compact PC. In real-world testing, however, it also proves to be a surprisingly capable gaming machine, handling modern AAA titles at 1440p while keeping temperatures under control.
In CPU testing, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 running at up to 5.1 GHz delivered strong Geekbench 6 results, scoring 3,081 in single-core performance and 22,314 in multi-core performance. While its single-core score trails Apple’s high-end M-series chips, the multi-core result is much more competitive and shows just how much processing power GMKtec has packed into this compact system.
The real highlight is the Radeon 8060S iGPU. AMD’s fastest integrated graphics solution performs exceptionally well inside the EVO-X3, especially thanks to the system’s generous power limits. In 3DMark Time Spy Graphics testing, the Radeon 8060S reportedly outperformed a desktop RTX 4060 by around 10%, an impressive result for integrated graphics.
That graphics performance translates directly into gaming. The GMKtec EVO-X3 can run demanding titles at 1440p with performance that many users would normally expect from a larger desktop PC. In Forza Horizon 6, the system managed more than 90 FPS at 1440p on ultra settings without needing image upscaling.
More demanding games such as Black Myth: Wukong and Crimson Desert require FSR to push beyond 60 FPS at 1440p on high settings, but the results are still excellent for a Mini PC. For users looking for a compact gaming PC that can also handle AI workloads, content creation, emulation, and productivity tasks, the EVO-X3 appears to be a very strong option.
Cooling is another area where GMKtec seems to have done a solid job. During AAA gaming sessions, temperatures were measured at around 66°C, while CPU stress testing pushed the chip to a maximum of roughly 83°C. For a compact system running high-performance hardware, those numbers are encouraging.
Power draw during gaming reportedly peaked at about 147 W, which makes sense given the system’s high-performance configuration and 140 W maximum TDP. That power budget helps the Radeon 8060S stretch its legs and is likely one of the reasons the EVO-X3 performs so well compared with many power-limited mobile and compact systems.
Overall, the GMKtec EVO-X3 stands out as one of the most exciting Mini PCs for users who want both AI acceleration and serious gaming performance in a small package. With its Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, massive 128 GB of fast memory, powerful Radeon 8060S graphics, strong thermal design, and impressive 1440p gaming results, it is much more than a niche AI box.
